Tibet has been becoming a modern city in the past few years. Many tourits fly to Lhasa over the Himalayas or travel overland on the friendship highway to Lhasa through the Himalayas from the Nepal Border. In Lhasa you can explore the ancient palaces, monasteries and the Barkhor street. The Tibet railway is now completely finished and many tourists take the train from China to Tibet, travelling from Chengdu, Shanghai, Xian and Beijing.
Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Fly Kathmandu to Lhasa Gangar Airport (3650 m) 1 hr 30 minutes flight, after breakfast, we will transfer the group to Tribhuvan International Airport to board Air China's Flight No. CA 408 to Lhasa at 10:25 am. Upon arrival at Gonggar Airport, the group shall be met by our local representative and transfer provided to your hotel in Lhasa and ou will stop at Nyithang Stone Buddha for photograph,which carved in the 11th century by the Zhomthong Ba, a famous disaple of Indain Master who named Atu Sha. The group will reach the Hotel Lhasa at approx 4:00 pm,The first day will be spent resting to acclamatize with the altitude because Kathmandu is at 1200 m above sea level and Lhasa is at 3650 m. So it needs some time to acclimatize with the altitude. Overnight at Hotel Lhasa (Veg lunch & Dinner). Day 2: Ssightseeing. AM: Sera Monastery, PM: Jokhang temple. Sera is the second biggest Gelupa Monastery in the north suburb of Lhasa, which was built in 1419 by Tsongapa's disciple Sakya-yeshi. Situated at the heart of the oldest section of the Lhasa city, Jokhang, one of the oldest temples in Tibet, was built in the 7th century by the 33rd king Sontsanganbu. Barkor is the middle pilgrimage circuit around Jokhang temple. (FB) Day 3: Sightseeing. AM: Potala Palace, PM: Jokhang and Norbulinka. Potala was the winter palace of the Dalailama, which was originally built in the 7th century by the king Sotsen Gampo and rebuilt to the present size by the 5th Dalai lama in the 17th century. Built in the mid-18th century by the 7th Dalailama, Norbulingka, the Jewel Park was the Dalai lama's summer palace, it covers 100 acres with palaces, pavilions and a zoo. Drepung monastery; Built in1416 by Tsongapa's disciple Jamyang-choje, Drepung Monastery is the biggest Gelupa monastery in the west suburb of Lhasa. (FB) Day 4: Drive to airport (63 km, 1hr).
