Day 2: A short drive in the morning will take us to the Sirimon track. We start our trek, walk to old Moses camp through the rain forest for 9 km (5 hours walk), night stay at Old Moses camp (3500 m).

Day 3: After breakfast we walk via Macinders Valley to Shipton’s camp (4200 m). Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 4: Early in the morning we climb point Lenana (4985 m) on a very clear day we should be able to see Kilimanjaro in the South, Mt. Elgon in the West and the Indian Ocean in the East. Descend to Shipton’s camp for breakfast then to Macinders camp for overnight stay.

Day 5: After breakfast, descend out through Met-station to Naromoro gate. Nairobi is reached in the afternoon.

Equipment required: All climbers should attempt to bring as much as possible of the following: anorak, mittens, balaclava (ski-masks), snow goggles or ski sunglasses, scarf, 3 pairs of warm trousers, sweaters, 6 pairs of warm socks, thermal underwear, waterproof layer, sun proof hat, comfortable boots, sun cream, small first aid kit, day pack, torch plus spare battery, and water bottle(s) with 2 liter capacity.

Suggested medicines: headache tablets (preferably not aspirin since this tends to irritate stomachs already sensitive at altitude), Imodium/Lomotil for diarrhea sometimes associated with altitude. Climbers may like to consult their physicians about acetazolamide (Diamox), a drug that many find mitigates the ill effects of altitude, headache, diarrhea and vomiting.

Tipping: It is customary for satisfied climbers to tip guides and porters. Amounts given are entirely within the discretion of the guest. As a general guideline, however, guests are advised to budget $ 50-100 each for this purpose. The amount per guest tends to be larger the smaller the group.

Notes:
Airfare is not included in the tour price.
