The historical part of the old Jewish settlement in our country is the synagogue which fundamentals still stands and the cemeteries. The gravestones are from different countries and the texts are in Dutch, Spanish and Jew. From Paramaribo city to Joden Savanna is a little more that 1 hour driving. At Carolina we cross the Suriname river by pontoon and we have the village called Redi Dotie.
At Redi Dotie, the Amerindians have their settlement. The cemetery, the old synagogue and the medicinal water source are still there at Joden Savanna. These dates from the year 1639 when the first Jews arrived in Suriname. After these interesting and historical walk we continue our excursion to a near creek named Blaka Watra. A refreshing bath in this natural dark water is for your choice.
