Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Banjul International Airport. Welcome and transfer to Sunset Beach Hotel or similar for dinner and overnight. Day 2: City Tour After breakfast, pick up starts by 09.00 am for sight seeing. First, we start the city tour at the Katchically Crocodile pool to Bakau. The Crocodile Pool of Katchically is over 500 years old and it is a holy place where people come for guidance and blessing. It is also the only place where you can touch and feel the crocodiles. From there we drive to Serrekunda to visit the tie and dye Batik Factory where we will learn about this art. Then, we drive through the heart of Serrekunda, which is the biggest city in the Gambia before going to Banjul, the capital city. The first stop to Banjul will be the National Museum that will teach you about the history and culture of The Gambia. From there, then continue to Albert Market, which is a daily market with clothes, food, African Souvenirs….etc. From the market we drive to Nefertiti restaurant for lunch. From there, you will be dropped to your hotels for dinner and overnight. Day 3: Toumanitenda Village After breakfast, we start driving to Tendaba Camp. On the way, pass villages and stop to Toumanitenda Village, a typical Jola village to discover and share the daily way of life of the people (N.B: Insight The Gambia) and witness their daily activities. Lunch at Toumanitenda in the local way. From there, driving continues on the South Bank of the River to Tendaba Camp in Kwinella. On arrival, departure on a boat trip in the late afternoon for approx. 2hours where you will be lucky to observe colorful birds into Kunku and Kissi Bolong. This is a beautiful trip for bird lovers. Return to the camp for dinner, African entertainment and overnight. Day 4: After breakfast, start driving to Yellitenda for the ferry crossing to The North Bank to Farafenni. On the way, visit a typical Gambian compound. From there, we drive to Baobolong Camp which is in Georgetown, Mc Carthy Island Division. Arrive at the camp for lunch, dinner and overnight, and in the early evening, visit of the Island and walk around the village. Day 5: After breakfast, early drive via Bansang to Tambacounda to Senegal. After the passports formalities at The Gambian and Senegalese boarder, drive to Hotel Relais de Tamba. After check in the rooms and enjoy your lunch, start a sight seeing of the town of Tamba, capital of the Eastern Senegal also called Senegal Oriental. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Relais de Tamba. Day 6: After breakfast, drive to Simenti Campl in Niokolokoba Park (the National Park of Senegal). After lunch and rest, in the afternoon, starts a boat trip on the river to look for birds and hippos and then, back to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Day 7: After an early breakfast, we join the 4 x 4 truck for the safari at the Niokolokoba Park which is 1 million hectares big and we can see antelopes, bush pigs, baboons and water boar to name few. Return for lunch and in the afternoon, walk around the camp before dinner and overnight. Day 8: Mungo Park After an early breakfast, we depart the hotel to drive to Basse. At Basse, we join the boat trip to Karantaba for around 6 hours. Lunch will be served on the boat and this will be a real relaxing trip. While cruising, we can see crocodiles and Birds and have a view of The Memorial of Mungo Park. Arrive in Karantaba where you can visit the obelisk of the young scotish explorer who was looking for the mouth of the River Niger. Then join the bus to drive to Jang Jang Burreh Camp for dinner and overnight. Jang Jang Burreh Camp is a typical African basic camp with no electricity, but illuminate with petrol lamp to create the African atmosphere Day 9: After breakfast, start the drive towards Barra with a stop to visit the Stone Circles of Wassu which is believed to be a burial ground for kings and chiefs who lived and die for about 1200 years ago. Lunch stop at Farefenni before continuing the drive to Barra to catch up with the ferry to cross to Banjul to your hotel. Dinner and overnight in the hotel. Day 10: After breakfast, drive to Makasutu Cultural Forest where we will spend the whole day, that includes a boat trip and a forest walk, a visit to a fortune teller (Marabout), lunch and enjoying eco – tourism.
