With your private local guide you will explore the amazingly well-preserved archaeological excavations of Pompeii, the prosperous Roman city whose life was interrupted in the year 79AD by the lava and ashes coming from the Vesuvio vulcanic eruption. The city remained buried for many centuries and was rediscovered only in the 18th century.

Tour Itinerary:

Your private driver will come to your hotel in the morning and take you to Pompei with a luxury sedan. At the arrival in Pompeii you will meet your private guide, officially licensed and with degree in archeology or art history. Your guide will take you through the ruins of Pompei for about 2.5-3 hrs. Please consider that because of the magnitude and complexity of the this archeological site, a knowledgeable guide is really a must.

After the tour you will have time for a lunch break and then your private car will take you back to your hotel in Rome. This excursion will last about 10 hrs in total (including driving time to Pompeii of about 3 hrs each way). As an alternative option, you can also include a visit to the pretty town of Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast. Here you can have lunch and stroll around the historical center. This option will require about 2 hours more and will give you a glimpse on this beautiful part of the Italian coast.
