Your Itinerary:

Day 1: Sahagun. You will be pre-booked in a traditional hotel in the heart of the town. Town: ATM, shops, all facilities. Accommodation: 4* hotel in the center of the town, en suite.

Day 2: Sahagun to El Burgos Ranero (5 h, 17 km). In Sahagun, you will leave "Tierra del Campo" behind, moving on through the cereal and grain-covered plateau of Leon. This part of the countryside is also characterized by small valleys and riverbeds which began life when water started collecting in the rocky surface of the terrain, and remained there due to the high amount of clay lying deeper underground. Town: small village, shops. Hotel: 1* hotel family-run, en-suite. Includes: (B), (D).

Day 3: El Burgos Ranero to Mansilla de las Mullas (5 h 15 m, 19 km). Going down from the plateau towards the capital of the province, Leon, you pass the first lovely village of Reliegos, and then further downwards to the river Grande and Esla. En-camino you will have the chance to take the "via Traiana"; another camino to Santiago, this time starting in Bordeaux, France. Town: Very small village. There are just a couple of houses, your hotel, 1 bar and 1 restaurant, great fun! Hotel: 1* hotel, en-suite. Includes: (B), (D).

Day 4: Mansilla de las Mullas to Leon (5 h, 17 km). You will continue alongside land that has been set aside for irrigated crop growing before seeing the first signs of industrial activity up ahead. From Portillo Hill you will be able to make out the beautiful city of Leon. Town: ATM, shops, all facilities. Hotel: 3* hotel in a 16th Century monastery - unforgettable! Includes: (B).

Day 5: Leon, end of the walking holiday. After breakfast we bid you farewell. We recommend that you visit Leon; a former Roman encampment and now a large town. The historic center is well preserved and worth visiting. Over the course of time, León became the capital of the kingdom in the Middle Ages; a historic enclave on the Pilgrim's Road to Santiago de Compostela. Not to miss: The Pulchra Leonina (the "Sistine Chapel" of Spanish architecture) and the old "Hospital de San Marcos". Includes: (B).
