Saharna monastery it’s located 8 km from Rezina, 45 km from Orhei and 120 km from Chisinau. “Sfinta Treime” Monastery of Saharna is very picturesque and is placed in three steps (levels), superimposed one over another. The Nistru River flows nearby, Saharna village stands on its bank. Saharna complex history is very old. Founded in 1776 by Varfolomei Crivorucico, the monastery comprises a complex of constructions: the “Sfinta Treime” summer church (1818-1821), consecrated by metropolitan G. Banulescu-Bodoni; “Adormirea Maicii Domnului” winter church (1863) where the relics of Saint Cuvios Macarie are kept; monks cells and “Maicii Domnului“ Chapel holding a marvel-making icon. On the top of the Grimidon hill you may see a little chapel, where, as the legend says, you may see the footprint of Mother of God who showed herself in front of Saint Varfolomei. Saharna River on its way forms 22 cascades. Tired of travel, you can rest at the bottom of a cascade in the shadow of high hills and calm. Boarding house “Hanul lui Hanganu” (Lalova): The rural half-isle is situated in Rezina district, Lalova village, on the right shore of Nistru river at a distance of 100 km from Chisinau. Curchi Monastic Complex: Is located in one of the most picturesque areas in the center of Moldova, in the neighborhood of the village Buzesti. It is placed on two terraces ad is surrounded by a wall with corner towers. According to a legend, the monastery was founded in 1765 by Jordan Curchi, local inhabitant, who escaped from Tatar invasion with his brother Michael and the family of Buzesti priest. When Jordan Curchi decided to come back to his places, the widow of the priest persuaded him to take her children along. Curchi failed to guard them against Tatars and several years later, being racked by remorse, he founded a monastery at the place where he left the orphans. The ensemble of the monastery consists of two churches: summer St. Dmitry Church, built on Jordan Curchi`s money, and winter Blessed Virgin Birth Church, built later, at the beginning of the 19th century. The winter church erected in 1810 is of a particular interest due to its peculiar design. The architects appealed to the best samples of classicism, at the same time giving their construction a distinct baroque touch. Besides these, the monastic architectural ensemble includes nine buildings with cells and abbot's apartments, constructed at the beginning of the 20th century, and a small stone water pool.
