Your Itinerary:

Day 1: Arriving in Cortina (1211 m). Baptised "queen of the Dolomites" because of its amazing geographical location, Cortina is the perfect town from which to explore the area. From this vibrant and tourist friendly town, the impressive mountains around are easily accessible, thanks to the local infrastructure and services. Excellent restaurants and nice pubs offer some well deserved food to take up the slopes. Town: Shops, bus, ATM, Internet, pharmacy, pubs, restaurants. Accommodation: Hotel 2*/3*/4*in the heart of the town, room en suite.

Day 2: To Refuge Locatelli (2405 m)-Tre Cime area. Moderate route: 4 h 15 m, +1094 m. Challenging route: 6 h 15 m, +1211 m, -212 m. After a short bus transfer to lake Landro, the ascent to one of the greatest highlights of the Dolomites can begin. It is a steady ascent of more than 1000 m that will take you directly in front of the mighty Tre Cime. These 3 peaks are emblematic of the Dolomites. The famous Refuge Locatelli will be serving refreshments and copious helpings of food. People who enjoy a challenge can take a walk around the Tre Cime and observe the peaks from every angle. Accommodation: High mountain refuge. Rooms of 2/3/4 or dorm depending on availability, hot water showers. Includes: (B), (D).

Day 3: Back to Cortina (1211 m)-Tre Cime area. Moderate route: 4 h, +595 m, -680 m. Challenging route: 6 h 15 m, +690 m, -1215 m. Today's walk was the scene of tragic war act during World War 1. You can still see the evidence of these atrocities by walking through the war tunnel of Paterno and the curious looking Sasso di Sesto. The walk itself goes to the pretty refuge Cengia (2528 m) and down into a silent otherworldly amphitheater before coming back to the civilization of the refuge Auronzo for a short transfer back to Cortina. Town: Shops, bus, ATM, Internet, pharmacy, pubs, restaurants. Accommodation: Hotel 2*/3*/4*in the heart of the town, room en suite.

Day 4: To Refuge Lagazuoi (2752 m)-Cinque Torri. Moderate route: 5 h, +474 m, -594 m. Challenging route: 5 h, +335 m, -455 m. After a pleasant transfer up with the open-air ski lift, this walk will take you to the very foot of the eroded rock towers of the Cinque Torri. Then, we walk around Nuvolau using either a dramatic and technical path by Ra Gusela (2574 m) or an easier path by Passo Giau (2236 m) before reaching Passo Falzarego (2105 m). Here, you take an enormous cable car up to Refuge Lagazuoi (2752 m) where we spend the night in the amazing surroundings of the Tofane range. Accommodation: High mountain refuge, rooms of 2/3/4 or dorm depending on availability, hot water showers. Includes: (B), (D).

Day 5: Refuge Lagazuoi (2752 m)-Circular Walk Tofane. Moderate route: 6 h 15 m, +894 m, -1541 m. Challenging route: same. As it is not possible to ascend any higher from the Refuge Lagazuoi (2752 m), today, we begin by descending down to 2030 m. We then take a right to climb steeply through scrub and an airy waterfall for a relentless ascent via moderately exposed natural ledges cut into the sheer Nemesis rock point. This leads to the wondrous lunar-like Masare amphitheater and eventually to Refuge Giussani (2600 m). The walk continues down to Col dei Bos (2400 m) and Passo Falzarego (2105 m), from which the cable car takes you back up to Refuge Lagazuoi (2752 m). Accommodation: High mountain refuge, rooms of 2/3/4 or dorm depending on availability, hot water showers. Includes: (B), (D).

Day 6: Back to Cortina (1211 m)-Val Travenanzes. Moderate route: 4 h 10 m, -1460 m. Challenging route: 6 h 10 m, +647 m, -1460 m. The challenging route begins with the exhilarating ascent "underground" via a remarkable tunnel hewn into the mountainside by the Italian WW1 forces, climbing a total of a steep 647 m with the help of rock steps and guiding cables fixed to the walls. The tunnel measures 1100 m in length and boasts a gradient verging 45 degree. Then we descend the Val Travenanzes, haunt of Chamois (a native species of goat-antelopes) and Marmots (ground squirrels) to conclude with the appealing Fanes waterfall, its 70 m drop evidently placing it as the highest waterfall of the Dolomites. Town: Shops, bus, ATM, Internet, pharmacy, pubs, restaurants. Accommodation: Hotel 2*/3*/4*in the heart of the town, room en suite.

Day 7: Cortina (1211 m). After breakfast, we bid you farewell. However, you can extend your stay in Cortina to explore this area further or take an additional night in romantic Venice. Town: Shops, bus, ATM, Internet, pharmacy, pubs, restaurants. Accommodation: Hotel 2*/3*/4*in the heart of the town, room en suite.
