Tour Details:
- Strenuous Climb Itinerary 3 Volcanoes (North Iliniza, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo) - This spectacular 8 day adventure is that we distribute in 3 sections: - Acclimatization: 3 days (North Iliniza 5126m, Cotopaxi 5897m, Chimborazo 6310m) - Rest: 2 days Altitude of 3100m (Llamahuasi, optional cultural tour) - Conquest: 4 days Hike to the summit of Cotopaxi and Chimborazo. Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Quito - Refuge Ilinizas Nuevos Horizontes of 4700m We'll leave Quito 9:00 pm, heading south through the Avenue of the Volcanoes. During the tour will pass through the town of Machachi, as well as the beautiful village Chaupi (Town of small agricultural plots) to reach the Virgen Parking Lot (3900m). From here we will hike to the shelter (2 to 3 hours) where we will have lunch and rest. There is an optional afternoon walk around the shelter; we will then have 6:30 pm dinner and overnight stay. Includes: (BL, D). Day 2:Refuge to Iliniza North 5126m - Pastocalle We will wake up 5:00 am to prepare breakfast and then ascend the North Iliniza Peak, on the way to the summit we will enjoy both beautiful scenery as well as the adventure of rock climbing still suitable for those with little experience. Upon arriving at the summit, you will be able to see unique landscapes and other prominent volcanoes. We will then return to the refuge for a little rest and return to Pastocalle. Includes: (B, BL). Day 3: Pastocalle - REST DAY – Quilota This rest day can be combined with a beautiful trip to Laguna Quilotoa 3914m. We would leave Llamahuasi 8 am, if the trip falls on a Thursday, Saturday, Sunday we would be able to visit one of the local Indigenous markets such as Saquisili Market (Thursday), Pujili Market (Sundays) or Zumbahua Market (Saturdays) We would then continue to the parish of Zumbahua, visiting the picturesque village of Tigua en route before finally reach the community where we Quilotoa. The lake is approximately 3 km in diameter with a depth to the water level of 350m. We would then descend the steep trail to reach the lake, and then take a mule back up to the community of Quilotoa. We would have Lunch at an Indigenous restaurant and head back to Pastocalle. Day 4: Pastocalle - Cotopaxi Refuge (4500 m) We leave Pastocalle at 11:00am by 4X4 truck and arrive at the parking lot around 12:30. It takes an easy one hour hike to the refuge Jose Rivas4800m, where we will have lunch, talk and check our climbing gear. We will eat a very early dinner and try to go to sleep around 6:30. At midnight we will rise to the ascent. Includes: (L, D). Day 5: Refugio Jose Rivas (4800m) - Cotopaxi Summit (5897m) We will begin our ascent 1:00 am after having a small meal and prepping, the climb takes approximately 6 hours, we should reach the summit by sunrise for a beautiful view from this volcano, on a clear day we can see all the volcanoes of Ecuador and its impressive crater of over 800m in diameter with a depth of 300m, from which gas emanates. At this time it is believed that Cotopaxi is the highest active volcano in the world. The descent to the shelter takes 2 to 3 hours, where we will take a short break and before returning to Pastocalle for Lunch, shower and rest before continuing on to the city of Baños, known for it´s Hot Springs, where we will spend the night. Day 6: Baños - Hot Springs - Waterfalls Baños is a place to relax and enjoy nature; we will start the morning with breakfast, and visit the waterfalls in the area, then relax in the hot springs in preparation for the next mountain. Dinner and overnight (B, L, D) Day 7: Baños - Wymper Refuge (5000 m) Breakfast at 9:00 am, then we´re off to the Chimborazo parking lot at 4800m. We will have breakfast on the way to the shelter, it´s a 45 minute hike to the Wymper refuge. We will have a very early dinner and get to sleep early. Wake up 11 pm, we will prepare our gear, eat something and start climbing at midnight. It takes 7 to 8 hours of climbing to reach the 6310 meter summit. (B, BL, D) Day 8: Summit of Chimborazo 6310m - Llamahuasi - Quito Congratulations! You have conquered Chimborazo, Ecuador's highest volcano at 6310 meters. It´s a 3 hour descent to the shelter, where we will take a short rest before moving on to Llamahuasi for a delicious lunch to celebrate all the heights reached during this expedition in the Ecuadorian volcanoes. You will then be returned to Quito. Includes: (B, BL). Notes: - These prices may vary depending on the hotel you wish to relax at.
