Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Drive to Momella gate to Miriakamba Hut, start walking through the forest toward the Crater floor and then steeply up to Miriakamba Hut with a possible diversion onto crater floor, comes in from left to reach Miriakamba hut, 2514 m, after ascending 1000 m of 10 km in 5-6 hours of walking.
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut. Start by following the uphill slightly until you come out into a path which climbs steeply up through pleasant glades between trees. Continue up the path through grassy clearing and over several stream beds to Saddle Hut 3570 m, 4 km of walking ascending 1050 m in 2-4 hours. You may take other 2 hours of walking to and return to little Meru for acclimatization during noon hours.
Day 3: Saddle Hut-Meru Summit-Saddle Hut. Leave Saddle Hut early in the morning at about 2-3 am. The walk up to the summit is long and a very narrow ridge between the slope outer wall of the crater and the Sheer Cliff of inner wall is one of the most dramatic and exhilarating sections of trekking to reach the socialist point 4565 m took 4-5 hours in 1000 m, 5 km of walking plus descending of 2-3 hours to Saddle Hut.
Day 4: Saddle Hut-Momella gate. Start walking by retrace a route to Miriakamba and take the direct route goes through forest for some of the way taken through open grassland in 9 km, 2000 m of descend in 3-5 hours to Momella gate, then transferred to Moshi to your Hotel for lunch, dinner and overnight.
