Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Harare and relax at your lodge or explore the many shops, restaurant, museums and colorful African markets.
Days 2 & 3: Eastern Highlands. We continue our travels to the stunning Eastern Highlands and the Vumba and Nyanga mountain ranges. These mountains form a natural border with Mozambique. In this area you have a very good chance to see the tallest waterfalls of Mtarazi Falls and the Nyangombe Falls. There is also a chance to do fishing of the trout fish and visiting the historical sites of Ziwa Ruins and the earliest bushman kraal in its intact shape at Nyanga national park. There is also the mysterious Mt. Nyangani which is believed to so scaring and has its own laws to climb it. It is one other mountain in Zimbabwe that is very much respected due to its mystery that is associated with it. Overnight we sleep at Ziwa site which is just below the Ziwa Mt. which is deep in the bush where the only music you here there is the hyenas laughing the whole night. On day 3 we head to Mutare which is one of the most beautiful cities in Africa because of the location ands the features that are surrounding this city you would love to see this place. We have our overnight at Manica Lodge which is named after the area.
Day 4: Mutare. After breakfast we do a settler drive to the Vumba heights which is part of the range of mountains from South Africa. This range is the same range that links this area to Nyanga and Chimanimani. Up we go through the White Horse Inn. We do the cultural tour in the area this is the place we will see the interchanging of culture from the Mozambique into Zimbabwe. This area oversees Mozambique having one of the points having an altitude of 1611 m, this point is called Mt. Nyakurimba. At this area there is one of the most famous golf courses in the world the Leopard Rock Golf course. We close this mountain drive with a cup of coffee at Tony’s coffee shop. (It is at this point were one of the earliest explores managed to see the Indian ocean using one of his strongest binoculars). Overnight at Christmas Pass Camp site as we overlook the Mutare city below us from the top of the hill.
Day 5: Great Zimbabwe. After our breakfast we have scenic drive to Masvingo city on our way to see Great Zimbabwe were the name of the country has been derived from. This place called Great Zimbabwe is the Old Kingdom of southern Africa, were the rulers of those times were based at. Stop over at Nyanyadzi Hot Spring and picnic lunch will be served there whilst we are exploring the hot springs for an hour. We depart for Bechnough Bridge, the most beautiful bridge and the surrounded by local fields. We continue our travels to the city formerly called Fort Victoria during colonial era, now is named Masvingo. Half an hour stop over for banking services to those who want to change their moneys. Arriving at Great Zimbabwe before sundown and we settle our camp and start the adventure by climbing the 100 m high Mountain for standing a chance to see the sundown and after our descend we spent the evening surrounding our campfire sharing jokes.
Day 6: Great Zimbabwe. We woke up early and ascent again that 100 m High Mountain for sun rise and later we proceed with exploring the whole monument, a guide will let us in and out of the walls and discover the secrets of the tower and passageways. This is the largest stone city spans an area of 120 km on a 720 hectares of land. This is the largest stone structure after the Pyramids of Egypt. The entire city was built using individually shaped and placed stones creating walls 2 meters thick and up to 11 meters high. After lunch we move to the Mtirikwi dam and we enjoy the blue waters of the second largest man made dam in Zimbabwe after Kariba dam. Later we climb again the hill complex to enjoy the sunset and than dinner and overnight at the chalets.
Days 7 & 8: Bulawayo. After breakfast we start our journey to Gweru to stop at the Antelope Park to have your dreams to walk with the lions. There are other places of interesting to see along the journey and having our lunch along the way. Later we will be in Bulawayo and have a city tour and of great importance will be the Bulawayo Museum where we have the science artifacts for the overnight. This is also the place were the African record of the greatest elephant statute is erected. After breakfast we drive to Matopo Hills in the Matopo National Parks. These hills are dated some 3 billion years old making them the oldest on earth. The name was given by the Ndebele people. King Mzilikazi a Zulu was the founder and warlord of Ndebele Kingdom. This name means a bald head this perfectly describes the unforgettable landscape of granite humpbacks and balancing rocks at Matopo National Park’s so famous for. After this you will see the graves of John Cecil Rhodes and search for the White Rhinos and seeing the bushman paintings. Overnight at the lodge surrounded by granite kopjes and African bushes.
Days 9 & 10: Hwange National Park. After breakfast we drive towards Hwange en route to Victoria Falls. In Hwange we will see the Zimbabwe’s largest park with amazing ecological diversity, teeming with game. You will stay in a lodge on the edge of the park.
The next day we will continue with our tour and game drive for a full day to have a chance to see the 100 mammals and over 400 birds.
Days 11 & 12: Victoria Falls. View the fall as you wander through the rainforest that is created from the spray of a million liters of water crashing every second into the boiling pot below. We have our dinner and overnight at Rest camp. This is the end of the safari. There are other activities that one might need to undertake, these attract extra charge and extra time. Victoria Falls offers many exciting alternatives. Optional activities: white water rafting, bungee jump, elephant excursion. Those who need to drive back or fly out can do so here.
