Highlights: With its blend of hilly terrain, fertile soils and permanent rivers, the Masai Mara is a wonder to behold any time of year. The Talek and Mara Rivers teem with crocodile and hippo. Often, a hapless zebra or wildebeest will go to the water’s edge to parch its thirst and find that lurking beneath the surface is a ferocious, hungry croc; what often follows, is an epic battle for survival, the kind that have taken place in the Mara for aeons. However, the Masai Mara is synonymous with the Annual Wildebeest Migration, now declared the 7th World Wonder.

This happens every year between July and October when herds of wildebeest, zebra and buffalo in the millions trek from the Serengeti in the south (Tanzania’s extension of the Masai Mara) to the Mara in search of new grass on which to feed on as they calve. The moving multitude make are in constant danger as they are ready prey and are constantly stalked by hyena, lion, African Wild Dog and other hunters. Carrion such as Marabou Stork and vultures are always hovering over any kill waiting for their chance to partake of the spoils of a kill. No words can explain the wonder that will come over you as you watch the Annual Wildebeest Migration. No documentary or picture can quite capture the thrill and terror and awe that is this circle of life in the Mara. Spent at Keekorok Lodge on full board basis.

Day 9: Keekorok Lodge (Masai Mara). It is impossible to see all that the Mara has to offer in just one day’s game drive, which makes and early morning game drive on day 9 imperative. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge on full board basis.

Day 10: Back to Nairobi. Guests may choose to have an early morning Hot Air Balloon safari over the Mara followed by bush breakfast. Check out and depart for Nairobi to arrive in time for lunch at Nairobi Serena. Afternoon city tour and shopping.
