This great trail starts from the eastern Indian state of West Bengal and trails its way to the southern Indian state of Kerala. Note this tour is definitely not for the faint hearted as this is a long tour including train journeys and an introduction to various cultures and myriad cities in India.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Depart UK. Overnight flight to Calcutta (Kolkatta).
Day 2: Arrive Kolkatta. On arrival in Kolkata, we greet you and transfer to the hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 3: In Kolkatta. Today explore the sites of this delightful city . Afternoon, free for independent activities.
Day 4: Kolkatta-Bhubaneshwar: Morning at leisure. Afternoon board train to Bhubaneshwar. Late evening arrive Bhubaneshwar and transfer to the hotel.
Day 5: In Bhubaneshwar. Morning, explore the city of Bhubaneswar. Rest of the day free for independent activities.
Day 6: Bhubaneshwar-Puri. Short drive to Puri enroute visiting the famous Sun Temple at Konark. In Puri stay at a beach resort.
Day 7: In Puri. Explore the quaint town of Puri in the morning. Remainder of the day at leisure at the beach.
Day 8: Puri-Gopalpur on Sea. In the morning, drive to Gopalpur on Sea and stay at a beach resort.
Day 9: In Gopalpur on Sea. Day at leisure at the beach.
Day 10: Gopalpur on Sea-Hyderabad. Short drive to Brahmapur in time to board overnight train to Hyderabad.
Day 11: Arrive Hyderabad. Early morning arrive Hyderabad and transfer to the hotel. Day at leisure.
Day 12: In Hyderabad. Morning, excursion to Golkonda Fort followed by tour of the bustling city.
Day 13: Hyderabad-Cochin. In the morning, transfer to train station to board overnight train to Cochin.
Day 14: Arrive Cochin. Afternoon. On arrival at Ernakulam train station at midday, we greet you and transfer to the hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 15: In Cochin. Today explore the historic city of Cochin. In the evening, attend the Kathakali dance performance.
Day 16: Cochin-Munnar. In the morning, drive to Munnar enroute visiting tea plantations. Afternoon, take a boat ride in the lake and visit Tata Tea Factory.
Day 17: In Munnar. Day free for independent activities to explore the hilly town at your own pace.
Day 18: Munnar-Periyar. Early Morning, drive to Periyar. Afternoon cruise in Lake Periyar to watch wildlife. Later visit famous Kumily spice market.
Day 19: Periyar-Kumarakom. Early Morning: drive to Kumarakom and on arrival board House Boat for overnight stay and cruise along the backwaters towards Alleppey passing through villages, paddy fields, markets.
Day 20: Arrive Alleppey-Kovalam. Morning, on arrival in Alleppey disembark from HouseBoat and drive to Kovalam to stay at a beach resort.
Day 21: In Kovalam. Day at leisure at the beach.
Day 22: In Kovalam. Day at leisure at the beach.
Day 23: Depart Trivandrum. Transfer to Trivandrum international airport in time to board your return flight.
