Day 1, Thursday 7 Jan, 2010: Mopti-Timbuktu-Essakane
Breakfast in the early morning then drive to Timbuktu , departure from Mopti to reach the legendary city of Timbuktu, the city of 333 holy, the mysterious city or the doorway to the desert founded around the 11 th century by the touareg Imagcharen. In Timbuktu the tradition says:“gold comes the south, salt comes from the north, money comes form occident, but the speeches of God, holy things, wonderful stories can be found only in Timbuktu. The 6 th administrative capital of Mali, Timbuktu attracts many tourists who like to discover an exceptional cultural heritages, adventure landscape and fabulous histories of the city. Timbuktu has maintained many ancient monuments you will walk through street to see the buildings, arrival at Timbuktu and continuation to Essakane and enjoy 3 days of world music, dancing, camel races and other activities. Meals prepared by private chef. Accommodation in Private tents. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 2 & 3, 8-9 Jan, 2010: Essakane. During three days, around 30 artistic groups are invited from all around the world to present their art. Through the festival au Desert you will discover Malian culture specially the Touareg one. They will come from Niger, Algeria and Mauritania.
Day 4, Sunday 10 Jan, 2010: Essakane-Timbuktu. Breakfast and drive to Timbuktu where you will Visit the old Islamic manuscripts in the Baba Ahmed Institute, the houses of exploratory Gordon Laing, Henri Barth, Mongo Park, and Rene Caille, the handicraft centre to discover the wonderful work of the touareg: the jewellery and the blankets; the visit of the three famous mosque (Mosque of Djinguareyber built in 14th century by Kankou Moussa, Mosque of Sankore and the mosque Sidi Yahia, overnight in Hotel La Colombe.
Day 5, Monday 11 Jan, 2010: Timbuktu-Mopti. Breakfast and drive to “Mopti” which means in Fulani ‘meeting point” is Considered as the “melting pot “of Mali because of the numerous ethnics which live in perfect social cohesion: bozo, Bambara, Fulani, touareg,dogon, soninkes. That fact gives the city a harmonious life, arrival and end of our service.
