The Marches Region, (pronounced lay Markay) is one of Italy’s most beautiful coastal regions of the Adriatic Sea. With a coastline stretching out for 180 km, The Marches offer many hidden treasures, and a variedlandscape complete with, white sandy beaches, to rocky cliffs and hidden bays of velvety blue water. Its no wonder the Italians have kept this region all for themselves! The inland of the Marches Region is blessed with mountains and hills that produce the well-known “Verdicchio” and “Conero Rosso” wines. The delicate, harmonic olive oils are abundant in the local kitchens. In the spring and early summer months, the regions hills are covered with gorgeous yellow sunflowers and the rich gold colour of wheat. New York Times travel writer Christopher Solomon describes the Marches as the “New Tuscany” and “What Tuscany must have felt like 10 or 20 years ago”.
The area is rich with works of art, sacred landmarks and historical caves. Rossini, Pergolesi, Spontini, Leopardi are a few of the important artists born in this region. Quality products labelled “Made in Italy” also come from this region supplying great quality shoes, jewels, and furniture and musical instruments. Located in the heart of central Italy, the Marches, offers you medieval villages, villas, vineyards, olive groves and gardens. The Marches simply offer Italy in one region! The Gastronomy Institute Italcook is located within the historical centre of Jesi, near the Pergolesi Theatre and the “Pinacoteca”. Museum: true jewels of the Marches architecture.
