After pick up from the hotels we drive to the rural areas of The Gambia, which is 155km away from Banjul. Normally two stops are made before reaching this fabulous camp. The first stop is made after driving 87km at a paddy rice field where the local people can be seen (mostly) women gathering and planting on their rice plantations. During the dry season we visit a Fulani village-these people are like nomads and can be best described as being like the Massai tribe in East Africa. Another stop is made along the way to stretch our legs and get a bit of fresh air.
On reaching Tendaba camp, we are given rooms, which have ceiling fans, showers and w.c. Normally we arrive at the Camp at around 11-11:45 hrs, lunch is then served which is a three-course meal after settling into your accommodation for the trip. After lunch there is then time to relax until about 16:00 hrs when the creek tour begins on the River Gambia. We cruise along two creeks, namely Tunku and Kissi Bolong where there is a chance of seeing crocodiles in the wild, monitor lizards and over 500 species of birds. We return back to the camp around 19:00 hrs and have the chance to freshen up and get ready for dinner which is at about 20:00 hrs. At 21:00 hrs, we then have a folkloric dance performed by the natives of Tendaba. This is traditional in these parts and is something that one will find both interesting and unique. The Bambo Bar is open throughout, which is by the river, they serve drinks, which are cheap, and there is always some music to dance too. The following day we wake up at about 07:30 hrs and after our early morning breakfast embark on a jeep safari. As you take the jeep safari you pass through Kiang National park and make a stop at a village called Batiling. Along the drive you can see the views of the River Gambia and get the chance to see some of the wildlife in this area. We then return to Tendaba camp and proceed to travel back to your respective hotels. Member discount: Notes: Includes:
