Mile after mile, the whole journey to the west leaves tourists wondering about the beauty of Uganda. It is a combination of wonderful views across the equator, herds of the Banyankole cows with their extra-ordinary long horns, terraced hillsides and valleys and above all these a refreshing atmosphere of the tranquil Lake Bunyonyi. This is a volcanic-sunken crater lake that is strewn by many islands that are inhabited by the Bakiga, who were resettled here from Bwindi forest.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Leave Kampala for Kabale also dubbed the "Switzerland" of Uganda. Our drive shall take us across the equator before driving past the wildlife migration corridor of Lake Mburo national park. We will have a lunch break in Mbarara before driving through the hillside town of Kabale and finally to Lake Bunyonyi for dinner and overnight at the Bunyonyi Overland Resort.
Day 2: After breakfast we will today have some time to explore the islands on this second deepest lake in Africa and one of the few lakes in the region that are bilharzia-free. Expect a spectacular view of terraced hillsides and many birds. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Overland Resort.
Day 3: You can decide to after breakfast this morning you have some optional extra activities that will keep you awakened for the best hours of the day. These activities range from the simple walk in the bamboo forest, the informative cultural excursion to the Batwa and the Bakiga villages. Your visitation to these communities shall be a great honor as they are pygmies who formerly lived as hunters and gatherers in the Bwindi Forest. They were eventually settled here to create some freedom for Gorillas and other wildlife in Bwindi forest. Lunch and or take a boat and visit the different islands such as the pygmy and the bushara island. Dinner at Lake Bunyonyi Overland Resort.
Day 4: Today after breakfast we will leave for Kampala with another with a picnic lunch on route. Our arrival in Kampala is late in the afternoon ending our day.
