Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be met by our airport representative and transferred to a city hotel. Time allowing embark on a city tour of Nairobi. City excursion includes visits to Giraffe Center, Karen Blexin Museum. Overnight: Jacaranda Hotel. Includes: (B), (L). Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve. Meet your safari guide and drive north through the farm lands of the Kikuyu tribesmen famed for coffee and tea farming. At the foot of mountain Kenya, Africa’s second highest mountain (5199m), you will cross the equator at Nanyuki town, here, Whirlpool Equator Water Demonstration will be conducted by a guide and certificates issued at each member. On different hemispheres, water spins in different directions. Descend from the lush highlands to the arid Laikipia Plains and on to the famed Samburu Game Reserve. Samburu lies on the fringe of the hot and sparsely populated northern region of Kenya. In the afternoon, there will be a game drive returning to the lodge as sunsets! Overnight: Samburu Serena Lodge or similar. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 3: Samburu Game Reserve. Both morning and afternoon game drives are scheduled for today. Samburu harbors a number of wildlife species rarely found elsewhere. Enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing in search of northern species of game not seen south of the Equator, such as reticulated giraffe, grevy, zebra, beisa oryx and Somali Ostrich. Another creature Unique to these areas is the long-necked gerenuk (meaning ‘giraffe neck’), a graceful antelope that stands upright on its hind legs to feed on tall bushes. The Uaso Nyiro River provides bathing pools for hippos, elephants and crocodiles. Keep your eyes open for lion, cheetah, or elusive leopard. There is also a variety of birds like vulturine guinea fowl among others. Overnight: Samburu Serena Lodge or similar. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park. After an early breakfast, drive past the northern tip of the Aberdare mountains, then descend into the Great Rift Valley where Lake Nakuru is located. Arrive in time for lunch and short rest. Lake Nakuru is a shallow soda lake, renowned for its huge concentration of flamingos. It is also a rhino sanctuary. The afternoon game drive is included and you will return to your lodge as the sun sets! Overnight: Lion Hill lodge or similar. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 5: Masai Mara Game Reserve. After breakfast climb the Western Escarpment of the Rift Valley and head towards Masai Mara. With its vast open plains and distinctive flat-topped acacia trees, no visit to Kenya would be complete without a visit here. Enjoying views picturesque Masai tribesmen herding cattle on the way, you arrive in time for lunch and a well deserved rest! Afternoon game drive includes searching for the Big Five, elephants, Buffalos, lions, Rhinos and leopards, before returning to your lodge as the sun sets! Overnight: Keekorok lodge or similar. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve. Full day game drives includes visits to the Kenya/ Tanzania border post, Mara River and searching for a elusive cheetah and many more antelopes and birds. The more adventurous can take an optional hot air balloon ride to see the park from bird’s eye view. Overnight: Keekorok lodge or similar. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 7: Nairobi. Before breakfast, you will enjoy one last morning game drive. You will return to your lodge for breakfast and then depart for the journey back to Nairobi. Lunch will be served at the world renown Carnivore Restaurant, then transferred back to Hotel. Rest of the day free to explore on your own. Overnight: Jacaranda Hotel. Includes: (B), (L).
