An 80-kilometer drive from El Calafate, the southern gateway to Glacier Moreno`s crashing bergs will give you a flavour of Argentina`s snow scape. The only glacier in the world that is not retreating, Perito Moreno is not just a large block of ice but an immense marvel of nature rising 60 meters above sea level with an ice depth of 170 meters! No description can really do justice to the immense icy blue berg but it is a sight you are unlikely to ever forget.

Formed 30,000 years ago, today Glacier Moreno is the world`s third largest fresh water reserve, advancing over the "Lago Argentino" (Argentine Lake), separating the lake in two. A phenomenal auditory experience if you are lucky to witness it, is when ice crashes and collapses into the iceberg channel. Explore this icy subject of awe as you tour the base of Glacier Moreno followed by an optional (payable locally) nautical safari to present an alternative perspective of the glacier. As the tour winds to an end, you will be left with delightful memories and a strong sense of nature`s power and sheer immensity.
