Day 1: Alice Springs/Kata Tjuta. Depart Alice Springs at 7.30am. Travel south through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges to Ayers Rock Resort and the Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park. Stop at a camel farm for a camel ride (own expense) and also view the majestic Atila (Mt Conner). This afternoon visit Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), a unique rock formation of many large domes that is sacred to the local Aboriginal people. Explore Walpa Gorge and then watch the sunset at Uluru while enjoying a glass of wine. Accommodation: Ayers Rock Campground (T), Outback Pioneer Hotel (H), Ayers Rock Resort. Day 2: Uluru (Ayers Rock)/Kings Canyon. View the splendor of the desert sunrise within Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park. You may like to climb to the top of the monolith or enjoy a guided walk and learn of the Aboriginal mythology surrounding this mystical place. Continue on a guided base tour around Uluru before visiting the Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Depart this afternoon for Kings Canyon. Accommodation: Campground (T), Standard Rooms (H), Kings Canyon Resort. Includes: (B). Day 3: Kings Canyon/Alice Springs. Join a guided climb to the rim of Kings Canyon for marvelous views of Watarrka National Park (for those with a good level of fitness only, sturdy shoes required). An easier walk along the boulder-strewn Canyon floor is also available. Enjoy lunch at Kings Canyon Resort (own expense) before travelling to Alice Springs arriving at approximately 6.30pm.
