We’ll spend 7 days in our own private heavenly mansion, centering ourselves and deepening our yoga practice. Each day yoga teacher Jhon T (owner of Atmananda Yoga Center in NYC) will guide us into the sacred vinyasa practice – opening ourselves to the power of transformation, quieting our minds, and opening our hearts. By the time we go home we will be refreshed in our bodies and our souls ready to make positive changes in our lives. Filled with delightful little shops, intimate cafes, charming colonial buildings, and quaint restaurants – you will be inspired by this Caribbean town. Even Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez loves this wonderful city (he grew up near by and later lived in the city) and used it for the backdrop of his famous book; Love in the Time of Cholera. But don’t worry, there will be plenty of time to explore town in between daily yoga lessons! Truly you’ll be staying in one of the most stunningly beautiful and oldest historic colonial homes in Cartagena. Casa Pombo has roots dating back to the beginnings of Cartagena, which was settled in 1533. In 1804, this aristocratic mansion belonged to Don Manuel de Anguiano, commanding officer of the Royal Army who was a hero in the War for the Independence. This majestic mansion was renovated by the famous master architect Alvaro Barrera in 2007, and it is considered one of the most prestigious and exclusive residences of Cartagena. During your stay, you’ll be taken care of by dedicated personnel who will give you all the special attention you need and deserve as if you were in a grand luxury hotel. Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Today you’ll fly into Cartagena, Columbia arriving in the late afternoon. Our gorgeous mansion is only 10 minutes from the airport – a quick van ride away from our very special home for a week. We’ll have a chance to gather together make new friends and have a wonderful welcome dinner together after settling into our beautiful rooms. Days 2-6: On most mornings we will begin our day at 8:00am for a walking meditation to open our hearts and set our intent for the day. When we return to our mansion with our warm bodies filled with the rays of the sun we will begin our morning Asana practice – followed by meditation time. By then we’ll be ready for our delicious breakfast! After we’ve eaten we’ll meet up for our introduction to Jhon T’s Atmanada Yoga Sequence – a fantastic experience. Jhon T. blends traditions of Hatha Yoga, Iyengar, and Ashtanga and elevates his practice by incorporating a vigorous Vinyasa series with stretches, balances, backbends and inversions to open and strengthen the body. After lunch there will be time to relax, shop, walk the town or even go to the spa. In the late afternoon around 5:00pm we’ll come together for a spiritual gathering, followed by dinner. We might have fun cooking-in some nights, or perhaps pay the house chef to make something for us, or even go out to any of the fantastic local restaurants that Cartagena is famous for! Jhon T also has some special plans for us – he really wants to share his love for his country with us and so on several days he has trips planned (to the islands, the mud volcano, etc). Please note that on those days our schedule will differ from what is stated in the above paragraphs. Day 7: We leave Cartagena today renewed and with a change of heart. New friends have been made and old friendships made stronger. We look forward to the challenge of bringing our new dream of inner peace and centeredness home with us!
