Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Lisboa - Sintra. Arrival to Lisboa and pick up of the car. Accommodation at the hotel. Overnight in Sintra or Cascais. Day 2: Sintra - Ericeira - Sintra. Sintra is a fairy-tale village set amidst the mountains. A Unesco Heritage Site, Sintra boasts sumptuous palaces and luxurious parks. Enjoy a romantic ride through the town’s historic center in a horse-drawn carriage, or walk through the stunning gardens of Monserrate or the winding roads of this village. Should you feel like visiting one of the most extraordinary palaces of Portugal, do not miss Pena National Palace. Alternatively, you can drive along the coast to Ericeira, passing Colares, Praia das Maçãs e Azenhas do Mar. Stop at Azenhas do Mar for a breathtaking sight of the whitewashed houses scattered on a cliff side. Continue along the coast until you reach Ericeira, a picturesque fishing village. Try the grilled fish or seafood at many of Ericeira’s good restaurants. By the end of the day drive back to Sintra. Overnight in Sintra or Cascais. Day 3: Sintra - Parque Natural da Arrábida - Évora. Leave Sintra and head south towards the range of the Arrábida Mountains. Located next to the sea, between Setúbal and the fishing town of Sesimbra, Parque Natural da Arrábida has incomparable natural beauty, where the blue of the sea alternates with the white tones of the chalk cliffs and the depths of the green vegetation that covers the mountain range. Drive along the Escarpa road which affords spectacular views over the blue ocean. Go hiking, mountain climbing, canoeing or swimming, weather permitting. Jeep tours through the Park are also possible. By the end of the day drive to Évora. Overnight in Évora. Day 4: Évora - Monsaraz - Évora. In case you didn´t have the opportunity to visit Évora, go for a walk through this city’s picturesque streets and alleys.Drive to Monsaraz. Situated on top of a hill, Monsaraz offers a fantastic view of the surrounding landscape and the delightful waters of the Barragem de Alqueva. Walking through the streets of Monsaraz is like going back in time, for it is a truly unique place where one can find all the peace and tranquillity that have been forgotten by the modern era. In the afternoon go on a boat trip on the Barragem de Alqueva. Alternatively, go on a car trip and get to know the Alentejo plains, where cork oaks and olive trees dot the landscape. Drive through Mourão, Moura, Serpa, Beja and back to Évora. We suggest you stop at Serpa, whose castle and picturesque sights invite one to amble. Overnight in Évora. Day 5: Évora - Estremoz - Marvão. Leave Évora and head for Marvão. It is worth stopping at Estremoz, where you can climb up to the castle which boasts lovely views over the plains of Alentejo. Continue your trip to Marvão. Perched on the highest crest of the Parque Natural da Serra de São Mamede, Marvão dazzles visitors for its breathtaking sights and the imposing presence of its great castle. Overnight in Marvão or Castelo de Vide (according to availability). Day 6: Marvão - Constância - Lisboa. After leaving Marvão, drive through the Parque Natural de São Mamede and climb up to the Miradouro do Pico. At an altitude of 1025m, it is the highest point south of the River Tejo and provides an exceptional view of the Alentejo landscape. Drive back to Lisboa. We suggest you stop at Constância, whose whitewashed houses have a yellow painted frame, which gives the small place a unique and colourful distinctive tone. From Constância you can also have a look at Castelo de Almourol. This outstanding building, perched on top of an immense rock emerging from the river Tejo, seems like a scene from a fairy tale. Overnight in Lisboa. Day 7: Departure. If your flight is only in the afternoon visit the beautiful city of Lisboa in the morning. Take a tour on tram 28 and discover the old town.
