* Tour of the Mother City and visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens: This enriching tour includes visits to all the cultural, historical and architectural landmarks of the Mother City. You will encounter the Bokaap (the Malay Quarter) Castle of Good Hope (old Dutch fort) the Company Gardens, Houses of Parliament, St Georges Cathedral (Bishop Tutu’s church); the Rhodes-Mandela Building as well as the Slave Lodge. A cable-car ride to the top of the Majestic Table Mountain, where you will have panoramic views of the greater Cape Town, Table Bay and Robben Island. After lunch we visit the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for a stroll through the magnificent Cape Floral Kingdom nestled at the foot of the mountain. Return to your hotel at around 17h00.
Please note: the Table Mountain Cable Car operates only in fair weather. We therefore buy tickets on the day, and our quotation will not include this.
* Tour to The Cape of Good Hope: This is a wonderful day out, revealing all the natural beauty for which the Cape is so well known. The day includes the scenic drive along the Atlantic Seaboard at the foot of the Twelve Apostles and into Hout Bay. After the magnificent Chapmans Peak Drive, you will make your way down to the Cape Point National Park, where you will see the mighty Atlantic surge past Cape Point to meet the warm currents of the Indian Ocean. In the quaint marine naval town of Simons Town, you will discover Boulders Beach and the famous African Penguins. Lunch (own account) is at Seaforth Restaurant near Simonstown. We return via the Silvermine Mountains and the beautiful Constantia Valley. Return to your hotel at around 17h00.
* Tour of the Cape Winelands: This day presents to you the splendours of the Cape’s winelands, once you have encountered it, you will understand why wine tourism is one of South Africa’s fastest growing industries. This region offers international, award winning wines and gourmet cuisine, amongst a rich and unique historical and cultural heritage. We visit all three of the best wine regions in the Cape (Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek) for tastings of Cape wines, cheeses and olive oils. Lunch (own account) is at a Franschhoek restaurant of your choice (this is the town where the French Huguenots settled in the late 1600’s) This tour highlights the villages and valleys, including the gracious Cape Dutch architecture. Both Franschhoek and Stellenbosch are full of quaint style shops. Return to Cape Town at around 17h30.
* Tour to Robben Island and a Township Tour: This tour is a historical and cultural encounter into South Africa’s past and present. We begin the morning with a ferry trip to Robben Island, where you will have a guided tour of the Island and the Maximum Security Prison as well as interaction with an ex-political prisoner, which will bring to life the heroic endurance in the face of adversity and the triumph of the human spirit over evil. Lunch (own account) will be at a restaurant of your choice in the vibey V&A waterfront, South Africa's most visited destination. The afternoon’s itinerary will take you into the townships surrounding the Mother City, where you will have a chance to interact with the township dwellers as they go about their daily routine and find out more about their past, their future and what currently drives them. Return to your hotel at around 17:00.
If the tour is private (ie two people or less) the cost is R1900 per day and includes all entrances, but excludes lunch. The Robben Island Private Day tour is R2200.
