Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arriving to Yerevan, meeting in "Zvartnots" International airport. Transfer to the hotel. Support in check-in. Dinner. For visitors arriving in the morning - walking through Yerevan at nighttime. Overnight in the hotel. Day 2: Khor Virap. Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to Khor Virap where can enjoy the spectacular view of the sacred Ararat Mountain - an immortal symbol of Armenia. According to ecclesiastic tradition Grigor Lusavorich (Gregory the Illuminator) - the founder of Christianity in Armenia - was imprisoned in the deep pit by the order of tsar Trdat III for 13 years. Gregory the Illuminator was exposed in spreading “alien religion”. Today you can visit the pit. Don’t miss the chance. Excursion to Noravank - a monastery of XII century situated among amazing sheer rocks on the bench of a twisty gorge. After that you’ll enjoy your dinner in a grotto with a spirit of mystery and antiquity. On your way back You will visit Areni church of XIV century. The village of Areni is famous also for its excellent wine, which you are welcome to taste. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in the hotel. Day 3: Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Ejmiatsin and Zvartnots - centuries-old monuments, members of UNESCO World Heritage. Visiting the churches of 3 Virgins: church of Saint Hripsimeh (618), domical basilica of Saint Gayaneh (630, reconstructed in 1652) with its 3-arched vestibule (1983) and church of Shoghakat (1694). The Cathedral of Ejmiatsin is an official residence of Armenian Catholicos. Visiting Zvartnots - a Temple of Vigil Forces of XI century. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in the hotel. Day 4: Breakfast at the hotel. Trip up to the top of Mount Aragats. The volcano Aragats is the main concentration of Armenia’s water reserves. Just stop for a while next to the famous and so marvelous Lake Kari. The Lake Kari is located on 3190 meters-high so be ready to the changed in climate. Excursion to the monastic complex of Tegher. Round-up excursion through the whole territory of the monastery. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in the hotel. Day 5: Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to the “Armenian Pearl” - Lake Sevan. Here you will taste famous Sevanian white-fish and ishkhan. Visiting the Sevan peninsula and so popular Hayravank monastery. Transfer to famous resort Dilijan. Round-up excursion through the Nature Reserve of Dilijan. Excursion to Haghartsin monastery, which became a great cultural and spiritual center of the region in XII century. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in the hotel. Day 6: Breakfast at the hotel. Visiting Vernissage - an open-air fair of Armenian souvenirs where you will find something memorable. Having rest. Visiting Opera/Ballet in the evening for the additional fee. Overnight in the hotel. Day 7: Haghpat. Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to Haghpat - a monastery of Lori region. You will see the major churches of its complex, vestibule, book depository, the bell-tower and refectory. Right after Haghpat excursion you will visit Odzun monastic complex rich in various monuments of different centuries. Excursion to the marvellous monastery of Sanahin. The exact date when the monastery was set up is not identified. Having visited the whole complex you will have a chance to see a house-museum of Anastas and Artem Mikoyan brothers situated next to the monastery. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in the hotel. Day 8: Oshakan. Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to the Museum-Institute of ancient manuscripts Matenadaran. Road continues to Oshakan. The tomb of M. Mashtots, the creator of Armenian, Georgian and Caucasian alphabets is also here. The village is considered an open-air museum. Saint Mashtots churches, the monument to the perished in the battle of Oshakan, the monument to the Armenian alphabet are all here. To the north of Ashtarak the cupola of Moughni monastery complex will grasp your attention (dated from XVII century). Excursion to Saghmosavank – a monastery which is famous for its unique library and architectural phenomenon. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in the hotel. Day 9: Monastery of Talin. Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to Talin to the monastery of Talin and many noble medieval monuments such as churches or khachkars. Don’t mix its name with the capital of Estonia, where the spelling and the stress differ. Excursion to the monastery complex of Arutch. The first church was built here in 666. Further comes Mastara - a settlement within 10 km north from Talin, which stands out by its Surb Hovhannes (Saint John) temple, built in the last quarter of the 6th century by Grigor Vanakan. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in the hotel. Day 10: Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Garni and Geghard - 2 monuments that are included in UNESCO Heritage list. Trip to the spring-memorial to the Greatest Armenian poet Eghishe Charents. Here we stop to admire the picturesque view of Ararat valley and proud Ararat Mountain. Return to Yerevan.
