Travel and Study in Otavalo! This small town of some 22,000 inhabitants, mostly Otavalan indian, is famous for its friendly people and their Saturday market, which dates back to pre-Inca times. Today's market is renowned throughout South America for the works of the Otavaleño weavers as well as for other valuable goods that bring people to the market from near and far.
Otavalo is also famous for the lush green mountains and foothills surrounding it which make for excellent hiking. If you'd prefer to simply take in the sights, there are gorgeous mountain views from the city; including the spectacular sight of two extinct volcanoes, which are easily visible on any clear day.
