Day 1: Kunming - Dali. Departure from Kunming to Dali, visit the old historical town and the museum and the legend story about the local Bai village. Take a cable car or trekking to Cangshan mountain. Visit the mountain view. Spent one night in traditional Bai Ethnic style hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 2: Dali. Every 5/10/15/20/25/30th there is the local market and spent the day in 1000+year old ancient town, learning about the local religion. Go fishing at sunset. Have dinner and spent one night with local family. Or visit a fishing island, with 4000+ year old fishing village. Spend one night in a lakeside lodge. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3: Dali - Shaxi. Take a bus to Shaxi, the ancient tea horse caravan trail, stroll around ancient town and local village, visit the traditional theater and temple, and most prosperity tea horse family in history garden, listening to the historical stories about the tea horse caravan trail. Stay one night in the local traditional tea horse caravan hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Shaxi in the historic Market Square of the old village of Sideng, a once vibrant staging post along the Tea and Horse Caravan Trail, which primarily channeled trade in tea, horses and other valuables between diverse ethnic groups residing along the eastern Himalayan riff beginning in the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907). Sideng flourished over five centuries throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368 – 1911) haven't been before stalled under the changing economic, political and industrial landscape of the mid-20th century.
Day 4: Shaxi - Lijiang. Take bus to Lijiang, stroll around Lijiang old town, black dragon pool, Mu masion and Naxi museum. At night enjoy the traditional Naxi musical performance. Stay one night in Lijiang hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: Lijiang - baisha. Walk around the Baisha the old village which is the dubition the incredible frescoes telling you the history. Then you keep taking your steps, reach the formal residence of Rock the American shcorlar. You will understand why Rock said: I prefer dying amidst the flowers which at the foot of Jade dragon mountain rather than lying on the bed of Hospitals.
Pilgrimage from Shuhe to Yuhu village, to understand more deep culture of the Naxi and Yi ethnic culture. Where is at the foot of Jade dragon snow mountains, on the way visit the frescoes and the Tibetan style monastery, and the formal residence of American schorlar. Spent one night in Shuhe town. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6: Lijiang - Zhongdian (200 km, 4-5hrs). After breakfast, we will drive to Zhongdian (Shangri-la). This is an extraordinary scenic mountain drive and there will be many opportunities to stop and observe both the natural beauty and traditional cultural practices. Along the way, we will stop and visit the spectacular Tiger Leaping Gorge – one of the deepest gorges in the world.
Zhongdian is the capital of Dechen Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is located in the south most part of Kham, or East Tibet – traditional land of the tall, turbaned Khampa houseman. Today, Zhongdian is principally a Tibetan township but has Han Chinese people as well as a smattering of Bai, Hui and Naxi minorities. Historically, the town was a trading center between Tibet, Burma and India. Mule caravans once made journeys to conduct commerce between regions. One of the major trade items was “brick tea” from Yunnan – in demand by Tibetan nomads and farmers.
Day 7: Lhasa. Fly to the holy city of Lhasa, capital of the mystical Buddhist Kingdom of Tibet. Our excellent tour guide and experienced driver will meet you at the airport or train station with Tibetan Traditional presenting Hada ceremony and a souvenir picture, and then transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day will be at leisure for you to relax and acclimatization.
Note: Today is very important for our respected tourists to acclimate the high altitude. You are suggested to drink some more water and eat some fruit which will help you to acclimate the high altitude. Please do not do much exercise or activities. Please do not smoke and drink alcohol if possible.
Day 8: Lhasa city. Usually our first stop is Potala Palace,which built in the 7th century by the famous Tibetan king-Songtzen Gampo. It became known as the "Winter Palace" by the 1750, when the 7th Dalai Lama built the Norbulingka Park as his summer residence. After lunch, you will visit the Jokhang Temple, situated in the old section of Lhasa. King Songtzen Gampo built this temple in the mid-7th century A.D. Now it is the most sacred place. After Supper, you are suggested to ramble over the Barkhore Street. This is a famous local handmade crafts market. You can choose and buy some little present to your families, relatives and friends.
Note: As you may know, to protect the Potala Palace, there is a restriction of 2000 tourists everyday and only one-hour- sightseeing for each tourist. So we may do the converse tour as Jokhang Temple first in the morning and Potala Palace in the afternoon or may changed the schedule with Day 3 in the high season (From April to October) in Tibet. In the early morning and evening,hundreds or thousands of pilgrims or lacal religious people come to the Jokhang Temple and circle around the Barkhore Street. You will appreciated how consecrated the city is and how religious the people is!!!
Day 9: Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery Norbulingka Park. We will begin our tour at Drepung Monastery which is used to be the most large monastery in Tibet where lodged more than 10000 monks at its summitin the morning. After that, you will visit the Sera Monastery which is famous for its Buddism scriptures Debating in the afternoon. You will finish today's activity after the Norbulingka Park which is the summer palace of Dalai Lama and later served as the governmental administration center. Today you will experience how the Lama study the Buddism scriptures and also touch the real life of local tibetan people.
Day 10: Namtso Lake, Yampachen Hotspring. We will begin our heavenly Namtso Lake after breakfast bathing in the splendid sunglow. Namtso lake is one of the most famous three holy lakes(the other two lakes are Yamdrok Lake and lake Manasarovar). Namtso lake is a mountain lake at the border between Damxung County of Lhasa Prefecture and Baingoin County of Nagqu Prefecture in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Namtso lake is a beautiful paradise for photographers. On our way back lhasa,we will pass by Yampachen hotspring. If you would like, you can get there to have a swimming and wash off your tired.
Note: Namtso lake is at an elevation of 4718m. So please make sure you get enough acclimatization of high altitude. If you will swim at Yampachen hotspring, 1-2 hour is enough because of short of oxygen.
Day 11: Lhasa / Shigatse. Drive to Gyantse after breakfast. On the way, Yamdrok-tso Lake can be seen from the summit of the Kamba-la pass (4794m). Yamdrok is one of Three Holy Lake in Tibet(the other two are Namtso Lake and Lake manasarovar). When you arrive at Gyantse, visit Pelkor Chode Monastery. The Monastery is founded in 1418, notable for its superb Kumbum Chode(10,000 Images Stupa). Arrive at Shigatse later for rest.
Day 12: Shigatse / Rongbuk monastery. Early morning visit Tashilunpo monastery, then start driving to Rongphu via Lhatse and Shegar, cross over Gyatsola & Pangla Pass, where you will see the Himalaya mountain ranges in a clear day. Rongphu is the highest monastery in Tibet, still a good point to see Mt.Everest. Afternoon start trekking from Rongphu to E.B.C, it takes about 2 hours. Or you can take a local sight seeing bus (pay by yourself). Overnight at Rongphu guest house.
Day 13: Rongbuk monastery / EBC / Zhangmu. If you are lucky enough, you will see sunrise at E.B.C. Then drive to Zhangmu Town.
Day 14: Zhangmu–cross Friendship Bridge. Cross the Friendship Bridge, get to Nepal.
Day 15: Get to Kathmandu. Take international flight home.
