Volcanoes National Park (PNV) in the North West of Rwanda where about 350 mountain Gorillas live. There are five habituated Gorilla families – Amahoro A, Amahoro B “Group 13”, Sabinyo and Susa - each of the groups allows up to 8 Trackers per day except Amahoro B which allows 6 Trackers. On a clear day all the five volcanoes can be seen and they include: Karisimbi (4,507m), Bisoke (3,711m), Sabyinyo (3,634m), Gahinga (3,474m) and Muhabura (4,127m). You can Track Gorillas, climb a Volcano (Visoke- 1 day OR Karisimbi-2 Days), Track golden monkeys, visit the Karisoke Research Center set up by Dian Fossey or visit local communities around the National Park.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1:
Arrive at Kanombe International airport. Met and greeted before transfer to Kigali City Center by our experienced tour guide(s). Overnight: Hotel des Mille Collines/ Umubano Hotel

Day 2:
Drive to Ruhengeri Province via brick making sites to Kinigi Park Headquarters very early in the morning. Enjoy the gentle terraced, rolling hills for which Rwanda is well known. [Approximate driving time: 2.5 hours] Transfer to Kinigi Park Offices to Track Gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. Gorilla Tracking through the bamboo forest, water mashes and wet ground can be tough and exhausting. The tracking sometimes takes up to 6 hours in the forest or more. But seeing the great primates is well worth the effort as it’s a life experience to be told. Overnight: Gorilla Nest Hotel/Kinigi Guest House

Day 3:
Options on this day include; Second Gorilla Tracking (with payment of US$375 Gorilla permit supplement at time of booking), or track the Golden Monkeys or climb a volcano, or visit Karisoke Research Center, or visit local communities or Alternatively you may relax at the hotel the whole day. Overnight: Gorilla Nest Hotel/Kinigi Guest House

Day 4:
Set off for Kigali in the morning hours. Time permitting, go for a tour of Kigali city which includes craft shops and visit to the genocide site or some Women organizations. Transfer to airport for your flight.

Airfare is not included in the tour price.

Price includes airport transfers, accommodation, meals as stated, the services of an English or French speaking driver/guide and a safari vehicle (4x4), boat trips, park fees, gorilla and chimpanzee permits where appropriate.
