Day 1: Marrakesh. Welcome to Morocco! You arrive in Marrakesh and, after a short transfer from the airport, spend the first night in a hotel in the center of town and meet your fellow travelers at a pre-departure meeting at 6:00 pm.
Day 2: Tizi Oussem. Departing Marrakech this morning, we take a scenic drive into the Atlas Mountains to Imi-n-Oughlad, the starting point of our High Atlas trekking adventure! Here we meet the cooks and team, with their sturdy mules, who will be trekking with us for the next 5 days. The High Atlas is the highest mountain range in North Africa, with several peaks over 4000 metres and beautiful scenery.
Today we trek up winding rocky paths, to the beautiful Tizi-n-Tacht pass, where we stop for lunch. This afternoon we continue on, to the Berber village of Tizi Oussem which is tucked away in a picturesque valley. Here we spend the night in a rustic Berber house. Overnight Tizi Oussem.
Day 3: Mssik Pass. Tizi After breakfast we continue our trekking adventure, past Berber villages, goat herders, terraced fields and up through the Mssik pass to reach Imil, in the heart of the Mizane Valley. Imlil is a popular starting point for many High Atlas treks and it features in Kundun, Martin Scorsese’s film about the Dalai Lama; in which he used the High Atlas to double as the Himalayas. We spend the night in a Berber house, 3 km south of Imlil, in the charming village of Aroumd. Overnight – Aroumd.
Day 4: Tachedirte Valley. Trekking along rocky paths and through pine groves, surrounded by beautiful mountain vistas, we journey to Tachedirte today. Spend the afternoon and evening at your leisure in this beautifully scenic setting.
Day 5: Agadir Berber Village. Trekking through the lush Tachedirte valley, we stop at a hillside Berber village for some refreshments before continuing to the remote village of Agadir, where we spend the night. Overnight - Agadir Village.
Day 6: Oukiemden. After breakfast, we complete the final leg of your Atlas trekking holiday, which finishes in Oukiemden, a picturesque hill station. There is time to enjoy the panoramic views of rugged mountains and sweeping valleys before returning to Marrakesh, for some well deserved rest and relaxation!
Day 7: Explore Marrakesh. Enjoy a day at your leisure exploring exotic Marrakesh, with its beautiful Koutoubia mosque and fabulous central square, Djemma-el-fna. Packed full of color, spicy aromas, traders, snake charmers and fortune tellers, Djemma-el-fna is a feast for all of the senses! Lose yourself in the madness of Marrakesh and perhaps test your bargaining skills, buying some last minute souvenirs! We’ll meet up this evening for our final dinner. Overnight – Marrakesh (Riad).
Day 8: Marrakesh. Your Morocco trekking holiday ends after breakfast.
