Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: After departing Alice Springs we travel north to our destination of Apmwarre Black Tank Aboriginal Community Outstation. Our hosts Magdaline and Veronica Lynch Kngwarraye set the scene by including us in a moving ‘Welcome to Country’ ceremony. We will be guided around the land they refer to as ‘natures pharmacy’ learning about bush medicine and bush tucker. Learn about the Corkwood story (Ngwarle Utyeye) and gain an insight into traditional dot painting and how the natural and spiritual world impacts their lives. We will enjoy lunch with our hosts before departing south toward Rainbow Valley (Wurre). Late afternoon we arrive at Rainbow Valley in time to watch the spectacular sunset. Be amazed by the colours rising from this stunning rock feature. This location is recognised as one of Australia’s most picturesque sunset locations. This makes for a glorious end to the day before we move to our remote private campsite for a night under the southern stars. After a meal cooked over the campfire, settle down into your Aussie swag, just us and the wild of the Central Australian outback. Day 2: Up with the birds, the sunrise colours on the surrounding countryside will astound you. After a hearty breakfast our Aboriginal host shares the spectacular art site of Rainbow Valley where we experience rock art, engravings and occupation sites never before open to the public. Listen to the Creation stories (Altyerre) and learn of the cultural significance of this ancient landscape. After Lunch we travel towards Mpwelarre (Walkabout Bore) along an exclusive outback track where Red Kangaroo (Kerre Aherre), Euro, wild Camel, Horses and a host of natures creatures can be observed. This is the location of the geologically unique Hailstone site (Kunata). Art and artifacts unique to the area will be available if so desired. Your Local guide will create a fun and entertaining atmosphere to conclude the experience. We are only 90 minutes from Alice Springs as we travel the Hugh Stock Route and the Old South Road. We will return you to your accommodation at approximately 5pm.
