Zambia is becoming more and more orientated to catering for budget travellers. There are several businesses here offering fantastic camping and adventure tours to places like the Lower Zambezi that is very close to Lusaka and one can experience the wonders of the Rivers, National Parks, Lakes and Waterfalls.
Some of these tours require that you have your own tents, but accommodation can be provides as in Chalets or Lodges.
Bushbuzz tours are here....personalised mobile safari anywhere anytime, you just have to book and pay a deposit and this adventurer will take you places you only dreamed about before, and do it in style. He has a 14 seated air-conditioned land cruiser that goes pretty much anywhere, with skill of course. Do your own thing! Its amazing and well organised.
Cha Cha Cha Backpackers also do some very affordable and very well worth it tours to Lower Zambezi and to the famous Luangwa National Park. These well organised trips give the budget traveller a unique opportunity to safari in the "real Africa" and experience canoe trips on the Zambezi River
Jungle Junction does it different. Cool pozzie to chill out, lots of hammocks and laid back zones. Well worth a visit and when you do its often not the last time either. Getting there by dugout canoe is a trip, to find the bar and boma's hidden in the natural background is a treat. Fishing in dugouts is popular or the mellowed sunset cruise is always a pleasure.
