A larger than life journey through "Little Tibet", for anyone who likes a good walk, outstanding scenery and enigmatic culture. Nestled in a high altitude desert realm, between the Himalayas and the Tibetan plateau at the far north of the Indian subcontinent, Ladakh and its people will stay in your heart and mind forever.
With its Tibetan Buddhist culture and stark, lunar-like mountain landscapes, Ladakh is one of the last surviving outposts of Tibetan style Buddhism and the traditions that have grown up around it. So long cut off from the outside world, it's an extraordinary land which, as its nickname "Little Tibet" suggests, more closely mirrors the culture of its Chinese controlled neighbor despite being within the borders of Mother India. We think everyone should see this, so our trek from Ladakh is a moderate one, designed for anyone of reasonable fitness. At times we will be crossing passes of up to 3,750m high, but most of the trek winds through breathtaking valleys, giving you superb views over the Himalayas and distant Karakoram mountains. Once trekking you'll be staying in good quality tents with full service camping and great food provided by our Ladakhi crew. Our group departures are timed to co-incide with the spectacular monastic festivals that take place each summer or choose a private departure whenever you wish.
