Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive to Tripoli international airport and then transfer to hotel overnight on hotel. Day 2: Full day will be spent in Leptis Magna visiting the ancient Phoenician/Roman city for its early Christian Remains. The important remains of this ancient city are the Severan Arch, the Palaestra, the Handrianic Baths, the Colonnaded Street, Severan Forum, Severan Basilica, the Circus, Amphitheater, the Old Forum, the market, etc. The Museum of Leptis Magna is of high quality and modern in its arrangements of material and artifacts which belong to various periods. Overnight stay in Tripoli. Day 3: After breakfast proceed to Sabratha the third major city of ancient Tripolitania. Sabratha began life as a Phoenician trading station from the early 8th century B.C. and fell under Carthaginian influence in the 4th century. A restored Punic Mausoleum in the south west outskirts of Sabratha, is a witness to the Phoenician presence in the past. But now Sabratha is, in fact, a well preserved Roman city, overlooking the sea and centered around the forum. Other Roman buildings include one of the best preserved Roman amphitheater in the Roman world around Mediterranean. The modern town of Sabratha has grown up around the ancient remains. The town boast with a good museum with a selection of sculptures made in bronze, marble, mosaic and frescoes. Afternoon the participants can enjoy the beach which is the most beautiful beach in Tripolitania. Evening return back to hotel and overnight stay. Day 4: Early in the morning a wonderful journey through the outskirts of Tripolitania. During the full day journey with stop overs our participants will be passing through the some of the important sites such as Nalut (lies on the western end of Jebel nafusa and close to the Tunisian border. This old town is interesting and there is also a quasr and an interesting Mosque), Yefren (located on the top of a series of hill crest set in an attractive wooded areas. There are various monuments and places of interest in the surrounding areas like springs and small lakes), Jadu (a cliff top village located about 50 km west of Yefrin. There are ancient ruins on the summit and a spectacular view over the valley), Gharyan (the major town in the jebel with a modern architecture and surrounded by beautiful farms. There are also examples of the so called Triglodyte Architecture - which builds into the surrounding earth and rock- some of these have been restored. Also famous for handicrafts). Overnight in Ghadames. Day 5: Full day in Ghadames visiting its traditional architecture, folklore and art, Roman and early Libyan remains, traditional handicrafts, Ottoman art and the fort in Colonial style, and also visit it's irrigation canals. Day 6: After having breakfast proceeds to the oasis town Ghadames which lies to the south west of Jabal Nafusa and very close to the border of Algeria and Tunisia. Ghadames is famous for its traditional desert architecture. On the way our participants will be passing through another desert town Nalut which is very interesting for its landscape and Traditional Architecture Overnight stay in Ghadames and overnight stay in Tripoli hotel. Day 7: early in the morning fly on a domestic flight to Benghazi which is the second largest city and the economic pole of Libya, starts our journey direct towards town of Tolmitha to visit the ancient ptolemais and the museum then transfer to Albayda passing to visit kasre Libya. Overnight on bayda. Day 8: After having breakfast starts our visit towards Susa (Apollonia) to see its classical and early Christian remains, Beaches and Landscape. On the way we will be passing by a beautiful site Ras El Hilal which is famous for its natural beauty and beaches. Overnight stay in Susa (Apollonia) in its resort. Day 9: Early morning resumes our journey towards Tobruk on the way our participants will be passing through Lathroun, overnight stay at Tobruk. Day 10: full day in Tobruk to visit the War Cemeteries of the WW II, where 15000 young men are taking their final rest. If time permits, also visit few other sites related to Second World war. If your emotions allow you can enjoy the natural beauty and setup. Overnight stay at Tobruk. Day 11: After breakfast, early in the morning return back to Benghazi. Overnight in Benghazi hotel. Day 12: Full day in Benghazi, marketing, visit old city, after lunch drive to Benghazi airport overnight in Tripoli. Day 13: Free time in the capital city of Tripoli under the disposal of our participants. In Tripoli our participants have the choice to see the Jamahiriya Museum which houses the national collections of antiquities, the Old Madina, and the Art Gallery. Day 14: A free day in Tripoli for shopping, free stroll in the city. Day 15: Final departure day. After breakfast drive to the airport.
