Day 1: Arrival: Personal greeting at airport and transfer to the Victoria Falls. 16:00, sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Snacks and unlimited free ‘sundowner’ drinks. Transfer back to hotel. Dinner: We suggest you dine in at the hotel. Either the extensive ‘help yourself’ buffet at the Jungle Junction with traditional African Dancing or the more formal (smart casual) a la carte dinner in the magnificent Livingstone Room with, normally, dancing.
Day 2: 08:00, guided tour of the Victoria Falls followed by a visit to The Big (baobab) Tree, and Craft Market. Transfer back to the Victoria Falls Hotel. Lunch: suggest on the veranda overlooking the famous Bridge. As regards lunch each day we suggest you may feel more inclined to take just a snack or even a ‘liquid’ lunch. We say this because you are likely to have feasted on an unlimited ‘help yourself’ breakfast and will be looking forward to a full dinner – again often of the help yourself variety. 14:30, the village tour. Meet the locals. 19:00, we transfer you to and from the Boma experience at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge.
Day 3: We leave this day free for your choice of Optional Activities: Flight over the Falls. Adrenaline: crocodile farm, Bungee jump, walking with lions, gorge swing, elephant back safari, foofie slide. It may assist you to know that Walking with Lions and Elephant back Safari can be in the early morning (06:00, breakfast included) or in the afternoon. The Flight over the Falls can also be from 06:00 onwards. Transfer at any convenient time during the day, transfer you from the Victoria Falls Hotel to the Victoria Falls safari lodge. Or remain at the Victoria Falls hotel if you prefer. Dinner: On the veranda of the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge overlooking the floodlit waterhole. Great experience!
Day 4: 08:00, pick up from hotel, transfer to Kasane in Botswana (less than 1 hours drive - don't forget your passport!) for the memorable cruise on the Chobe River. From the cruise you will have a snack lunch and transfer to the airstrip for your real safari experience staying the first 2 nights at Elephant Camp in Savuti followed by 2 further nights at Xakanaxa (pronounced Kakanaka) in the Okavango Delta. You will be met and welcomed, shown to your accommodation and possible activities during your stay will be discussed. This should leave a convenient break for you to settle in and have a freshen-up prior to afternoon tea at 16:00 hrs. At 16:30 the afternoon game drive. Drinks half way through and back to camp in time for dinner at 20:00 hrs. After dinner, sit round the fire if you wish, for coffee, drinks and liquors. Bed! The next day will be according to the following guidelines.
Day 5: 06:00, wake up call. 6:15, tea/coffee with light breakfast. 6:30 (approximate depending upon the season) early morning game drive. Cool drinks, tea and coffee served about half way through the drive. 10:30, return to camp to freshen-up, visit the Curio shop, etc. or just relax. 11:00, buffet brunch. After brunch until 15:30 is free time to relax by the pool or just enjoy watching game from within the confines of the camp. 15:30, afternoon tea, savory snacks, cakes, etc. 16:00, afternoon game drive. During the drive there will be a stop in a scenic location for sundowner drinks. 19:00, return to camp. 20:00, pre-dinner drinks followed by dinner. 21:00, drinks/coffee/liqueurs around the camp fire.
Day 6: The morning up to and including brunch should be pretty much the same as your previous day starting at 06.00 up to and including brunch (but please see comment at the end of this Itinerary). You will then be escorted to the plane for the relatively short hop to Xakanaxa landing strip and then to the camp site. The rest of the day – afternoon tea, game drive (time permitting), pre-dinner drinks, etc. is as on the day you arrived at Savuti Fly.
Day 7: This will be as day 5 but enjoying the totally different environment and vegetation of Okavango as apposed to Savuti. But hopefully lots of exciting game, excellent food and great relaxation.
Day 8: The usual early wake-up call, like breakfast and (time permitting) early morning game drive followed by food. Relax until your transfer flight back to Kasane. Comment: Because the charter flight company gives only 24 hours notice as to the times of the shared flights, it is not possible to be precise as to times of arrival and departure from the 2 camps and therefore activities and meals may not be as normal on these days. After your morning activities (maybe limited) in Xakanaxa you will return to the airstrip for your trip back to the airstrip at Kasane. From there you will be transferred back to Victoria Falls for your last 2 nights at the one and only Stanley & Livingston Hotel with dinner in the hotel.
Day 9: A day of pure relaxation to get over the activities of the previous 6 days. We truly believe you will not be disappointed with this magnificent hostelry. Nonetheless, if you need to pop back into town for some last minute shopping or one further activity, you have a hotel complimentary transfer to and from Victoria Falls town. Lunch: Optional depending upon your movements (if any – lazing by the pool). Dinner: in the hotel.
Day 10: We collect and transfer you on the last relatively short hop to the airport for your return flight.
Note: If you wish to go up market to Presidential Suites (where available) in Victoria Falls and non-sharing for either (or both) charter flights and activities, we shall be pleased to quote on request. At the other end of the scale, if you should wish to ‘downsize’ we can let you have amended details.
These still include transport by light aircraft but bundu type en suite tent accommodation. Please let us know if you would like further details. These four days (or less) should really not be missed if you can afford the time (and the money). Apologies for repeating the word ‘memorable’ but in the words of our dictionary, “deserving to be remembered; remarkable” fits the bill perfectly.
- In addition to the above cost, of course, would be personal costs such as meals (excluding breakfast which is invariably included in the hotel charge) and items purchased as the Craft Market and elsewhere.
