This remote, northerly island; an independent democratic republic with a short but colorful history. Tiny but thriving modern society with a booming economy and high standard of living. With own language and rich cultural heritage, especially in literature. And an absolutely unique nature, land of ice and fire. Active volcanoes, spouting geysers, extensive lava fields and deserts, rumbling rivers and waterfalls, mountains and glaciers. Midnight sun in the summertime and northern lights in winter.
