Gorillas and Wildlife - Bwindi and Lake Mburo - Gorilla Tour to Bwindi, Birds and Game in Lake Mburo. Visit Lake Bunyonyi (6 days). Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in south-western Uganda on the edge of the western rift valley. It is one of the largest natural forests in East Africa, with both montane and lowland forest. About half of the world's population of mountain gorillas - about 300 animals - are found in Bwindi. Three families are habituated at Buhoma, Mubare, Habinyanja and Rushegura (8 permits per day are available for each of these gorilla families); and one family is habituated at Nkuringo (8 permits per day are available), making the park accommodate 32 trackers each day. Tracking commences every morning from the park headquarters at 0830 hours, but clients should report to the headquarters at 0800 hours ready for a detailed briefing from the guides on gorilla etiquette.
Tour Itinerary: Day One: Arrival Arrive at Entebbe air port; meet with our staff for greeting and introduction thereafter transfer you to a hotel in Kampala for overnight. O/N: Pope Paul hotel or Africana hotel or Sheraton. (BB) Day Two: Kampala – Source of Nile You will head eastwards to Jinja for the source of the majestic River Nile, take a half-day rafting in the adventurous rapids of the Nile and then you will return to Kampala in the evening for overnight.O/N: Pope Paul hotel or Africana hotel or Sheraton. (HB) Day Three: Kampala –Bwindi Take a drive south west of the country through several landscapes and amazing sceneries en route to Bwindi South. This trip can possibly be reduced to 3 days express for 3days luxury by using a charter flight to Kisoro (45min). O/N Gorilla forest camp or Heritage Hotel Kisoro (FB). Day Four: Gorilla Tracking You will go to the jungle at around 8:00am to Track Gorillas after breakfast in the morning, this is the climax of the tour gorilla tracking can take 3 -9 hours on walking in the jungle before one returns to his/her accommodation, the jungle, precipitous landscape and rain may make the tour challenging but with a close encounter face-face with the largest primate of Africa is a remarkable experience you will ever have in life. O/N Gorilla forest camp or Heritage Hotel Kisoro (FB). Day Five: Bwindi – Mburo Park Start the journey in the morning for Lake Mburo National Park in Mbarara with different tourist attractions en route. You will have an afternoon game drive in Lake Mburo National Park for some unusual game including; zebras, kobs hippos and many bird species by the lake. A leopard may also be seen on an evening game drive on a safari vehicle with spotlights. [Approximate driving time: 6 hours] O/N: Accadia Mburo Cottages or Mburo Safari Lodge (FB) Day Six: Mburo Park – Kampala Take a gentle drive back to Kampala through the Ankole – Masaka dry corridor to Kampala city. You will then transfer to the airport for your return flight back home; as you keep remembering the pearl of Africa. [Approximate driving time: 4 hours] Tour Ends. Notes: - This safari starts and finishes in Entebbe. It can also be done from Kigali in Rwanda, or from Kampala in Uganda.
