Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Arrival to Guatemala City/Antigua Guatemala City. Reception at the airport “La Aurora”, upon arrival transfer to your hotel in Antigua Guatemala for overnight accommodations. Casa Santo Domingo or similar. Day 2: Antigua Guatemala. Visit to the most important and significant attractions of the city including Antigua’s most beautiful churches, monasteries, convents, and the cultural center. In the afternoon visit to San Antonio Aguascalientes and Ciudad Vieja. Overnight accommodations in Antigua Guatemala. Casa Santo Domingo or similar. Includes: (B). Day 3: Chichicastenango and Iximché. Visit to the archaeological site of Iximché, the place where the first capital of Guatemala was founded and the last Mayan City. Transfer to Chichicastenango’s Market. In the center of town is the local market where you can buy wood products, ceramics and even gifts that the Mayan priests offer on their prehispanic altars. You can also admire the Church of Santo Tomas which was built by Dominicans and Kiches in the year of 1540 on a Maya altar, which even today is used on the front steps of the church. On the other side is Calvary Church, in the square you can see a high stick where they have done each year the presentation of the Palo Volador. Transfer to Panjachel for overnight accommodations. Atitlan Hotel or similar. Includes: (B). Day 4: Lake Atitlan. After breakfast we will take a private boat to cross Lake Atitlan and visit the Tzutuhil Village of Santiago de Atitlan. In this village you will visit the confraternity of the local saint named Maximon or Ri Laj Mam, visited by different people of different ethnicities who come to ask health and prosperity in their lives. Transfer back to Panajachel by boat to have lunch and visit the most important places. Transfer to Antigua for overnight accommodations. El Convento or similar. Includes: (B). Day 5: Tikal. Early in the morning we take a flight to Flores, Petén. Upon arrival transfer to one of the most important archaeological sites of the Mayan World, Tikal, its name means “Place of Voices”, built during the Maya Classic Period. Upon arrival at Tikal archaeological site, our guide will show you the layout of the complex of Temples and Acropolis. Visit to the Complex Q and R, then to the Central Acropolis, Temples I “El Gran Jaguar and the Temple II” Los Mascarones, regarded as the first and one of the most important monuments in the complex. Transfer to your hotel for overnight accommodations. La Lancha or similar. Includes: (B), (L). Day 6: Yaxha. Transfer to Yaxha, a former ceremonial center and city of the Pre-Columbian Maya Civilization. The facilities have evidence of Teotihuacan influence in their architecture and stelae. We can find the only twin pyramid complex outside of Tikal, also known as the Stelae Plaza. After lunch transfer to the airport to take flight back to Guatemala City.
