Gorillas are based in Uganda. You will have plenty of room to see great wildlife like Gorillas, elephants, birds, kobs, warthogs. The trip involves visits to different National parks, including Queen Elizabeth National park. The boat cruise on Kazinga channel is fascination. We shall provide you with excellent accomodation within the wild.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: Entebbe
Upon arrival into Entebbe, you clear Customs, then you are met and transferred to your hotel. The hotel offers an oasis of tranquility in classic colonial style. Spacious and elegant, this lovely hotel nestles in well-manicured, palm-studded tropical gardens with verandahs and terraces overlooking the calm beauty of Lake Victoria, its peaceful shores alive with fascinating varieties of birds and marine life. The ambience is warm and friendly making your stay as relaxing as possible. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 2: Mbarara
Drive southwest within the Lake Victoria Basin to Lake Mburo National Park. Take a game drive in the Park in search of zebra, impala, waterbuck and the rare possibility of spotting a leopard. Birding is likely to be very good in this area. Later today, you drive on to Mbarara eventually arriving at Ankole Cattle country around Mbarara. These cattle are incredible with horns larger than one can imagine. Overnight at a recently refurbished hotel. This small hotel has a pleasant dining room and bar with an excellent menu, and is an ideal place for a stop over with a visit to the market in town if time allows. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms. Day 3: Mbarara / Bwindi
Continue southwest into the area known as the Switzerland of East Africa. The road is sealed to Kabale and the rest is an all weather dirt road. You pass through areas of breathtaking scenery, high hills and deep valleys that are for the most part cultivated, on your way to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, famous for gorilla trekking and is a World Heritage Site. Bwindi, the Impenetrable Forest, is home to half of the world's population of mountain gorillas. Two of the gorilla families have been habituated, and it is possible to visit them in their natural habitat within the forest. Bwindi also contains many other primate species and offers interesting and more relaxing walks for visitors around the lower levels of the forest. Your camp is located within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, commanding excellent views of the forest from the dining and bar areas. Each room has 2 queen sized beds, vanity area and attached shower with hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Meals are excellent and provided in comfortable relaxing surroundings. Day 4: After breakfast take a short drive to Park Headquarters at Buhoma, meet with local guides and trackers who gives a talk on the ethics of Gorilla trekking. Then you hike into the forest to where the Gorillas were seen the night before. Begin tracking from that point. The trek can take from 1 to 6 hours to altitudes in excess of 7,500 feet over rough and at times muddy terrain. Although the hike can be physically demanding the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trek worthwhile. Once the Gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: Bwindi / Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast this morning, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, if road conditions allow, via the Ishasha region of the park which is famous for tree climbing lions. If road conditions are adverse you take a different route to the Mweya area of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You gently descend into The Great African Rift Valley and Queen Elizabeth National Park and Mweya Lodge, situated on a peninsula overlooking Lake Edward and Kasinga Channel, offering beautiful views of the park with the Rwenzori Mountains in the background. The lodge has been completely renovated to a high standard with excellent rooms, attached facilities, restaurant, bar area, outside dining and a swimming pool. The drive today takes about 4 1/2 hours. Afternoon game drive. Overnight at lodge. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6: Today you take game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park and a two-hour boat trip on the Kasinga Channel to view some of the largest concentration of hippo in the world (reported to be about 30,000) and other game. Also, Queen Elizabeth National Par is one of best birding parks in Africa, with over 560 recorded species and a record of 296 bird species seen in one 24 hour period. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7: Return to Kampala and transfer to Airport. Included: (B), (L).
