Brazil is one of the world’s 10 ‘megadiversity’ countries, and an essential destination for any serious birder or wildlife enthusiast. Our Brazil - Birds & Wildlife of the Pantanal & Cerrado tour is a birding and wildlife safari that takes in three significant locations; deciduous Amazonian forests, where we will visit the nesting site of a Harpy Eagle, the bird rich Cerrado woodlands, and the celebrated Pantanal – the planet’s largest wetland, encompassing 80,000 square miles of emerald forests, savannas, rivers and lagoons. Here we will find ourselves privy to an incredible range of fauna. With over 650 bird species and a staggering 200 mammals, this region is unlikely to disappoint. To boot, this is also the most reliable place for sighting the magnificent Jaguar.

The verdant Amazon, replete with a diversity of avifauna rivaled nowhere else on our planet, forms the focus of our post-tour Amazon Rainforest Birding Extension. As a base we have selected a wonderful lodge that boasts well over 500 species, and offers 20 km of well-maintained trails and a high platform that exposes you to the hidden world of the forest canopy. Whilst on trail we will look for the likes of Cryptic Forest Falcon, nunlets, jacamars and a horde of antbirds, antpittas, antwrens and ant-thrushes! The mammals here are not neglected, and we may encounter lethargic sloths, Lesser Anteater and primates including the endemic Red-nosed Spider and Bearded Saki Monkey.
