Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. We’ll leave after breakfast to take the journey from Kampala through Uganda’s beautiful green undulating countryside to Mbarara, with a stopover for lunch. After lunch we’ll travel to the Queen Elizabeth National Park, spotting game en-route. We’ll arrive in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight Katara Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge/Mweya Safari Lodge/Hippo Hill Camp/Institute of Ecology. Day 2: Game drive and Launch Cruise. We’ll take an early morning game drive around the park on the well-maintained tracks. Look out for the prides of lion and herds of elephant. You will also have the opportunity to see buffaloes, bush bucks, leopards, spotted hyena, water-bucks, kobs and giant forest hogs. After the game drive we will have a substantial breakfast. In the afternoon we’ll take the launch trip to explore the Kazinga Channel. Here we’ll see pods of hippos, and buffaloes close to the waterside, as well as elephants. The bird life on the water is fascinating and we’ll see dozens of bee-eaters pied kingfishers, pelicans and many more. Dinner and overnight Katara Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge/Mweya Safari Lodge/Hippo Hill Camp/Institute of Ecology. Day 3: Chimp Tracking and Scenic Crater Lakes Area. After an early breakfast we will head to the Kyambura Gorge for chimp tracking. View the fascinating primates as they play around the forest trees. After lunch we’ll take a tour to Queen Elizabeth’s extraordinary scenic crater lakes area. Mirror-surfaced and tranquil, each has its own individual character providing a home for a myriad of creatures. Dinner and overnight Katara Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge/Mweya Safari Lodge/Hippo Hill Camp/Institute of Ecology. Day 4: Pelican Point, the Salt Works and Sensational 360 View at Lake Edward. After breakfast we’ll drive to Pelican Point, overlooking Lake Edward. Here, there is a sensational 360 view and, on a clear day, we’ll have a splendid sights of the legendary mist enshrouded “Mountains of The Moon". We’ll have a picnic lunch then take a tour to Lake George, the saltworks and Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight Katara Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge/Mweya Safari Lodge/Hippo Hill Camp/Institute of Ecology. Day 5: Depart for Kampala. After a substantial breakfast we will depart for Kampala, stopping en-route for lunch at the equator, where we’ll enjoy a small demonstration on the different hemispheres across the equator.
