But, more importantly, you’ll be able to enjoy the Victoria Nile. Here, you’ll see pods of hippos resting on the river’s edge, as well as crocodiles. There are also tons of water buffaloes and baboons on the shores, playing, drinking or bathing. The bird life is extravagant, and in the course of a short boat trip along the river you’ll see dozens of fish eagles, hundreds of pied kingfishers, scores of bee-eaters and even, maybe a lone shoebill stork.
Day 1: Depart for the Murchison Falls National Park. We’ll leave after breakfast to take the journey from Kampala through Uganda’s beautiful green undulating countryside to Masindi. We’ll have lunch en-route. We will arrive in the early evening. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Nile Safari Lodge/Sambiya Lodge/Red Chilli Rest Camp.
Day 2: Game Drive and Launch Cruise. Early morning, have a cup of coffee or tea then have the first scenic game drive in the park. We will be able to view an extraordinary variety of wildlife that includes Uganda kobs, elephants, lions, giraffes, antelopes, a vast variety of birds. After a substantial lunch, we’ll take an amazing launch trip to the foot of the Murchison Falls. We’ll see pods of hippos, crocs, vast number of exotic birds and butterflies.
There are over 300 varieties of birds and myriad wildlife coming to the water to drink (often including herds of elephants). If we are lucky, we’ll see the legendary shoebill stork. The fall itself is one of Africa’s wonders - the Victoria Nile bursts majestically through a seven-meter gap to an awesome forty meter drop. Day 3: Game Drive and Visit a Local Fishing Village. A pre-breakfast “Sunrise Game Drive” starts the day after which we’ll drive to the top of the falls for a spectacular view. We’ll have the opportunity to experience the massive rush of water at close quarters. After lunch we will have a trip along the Nile and through the delta to Lake Albert where we’ll visit the typical local fishing village of Wanseko. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Nile Safari Lodge/Sambiya Lodge/Red Chilli Rest Camp.
Day 4: Chimp Tracking. After breakfast we’ll go primate tracking in a tropical forest. The Budongo Forest (Uganda’s largest tropical hardwood forest) is home a vast abundance of wildlife. There are over 350 species of birds, over 250 species of butterfly, and the forest is almost alive with primates - Colobus and red-tailed monkeys are easily seen and we’ll hope to meet one of the forest’s groups of habituated chimpanzee. This guided forest walk is an amazing way of viewing Uganda’s wildlife riches. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/Nile Safari Lodge/Sambiya Lodge/Red Chilli Rest Camp.
Day 5: Depart for Kampala. We’ll leave after breakfast for our return journey via Masindi to Kampala.
