Slovakia is a country which features one of highest number of caves in Europe, including UNESCO listed caves of the Slovak Karst, the Dobsina Ice Cave and spectacular aragonite cave in Ochtina. Most of them are located in East-Central Slovakia, which is a mountainous region with several national parks. Follow us to see stunning beauty of Slovakia's landscape with proud castles and wild rivers, including Europe's unique attraction: rafting (gondolling) at the Dunajec River in the Pieniny National Park.
Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Welcome to Bratislava. Arrival to Bratislava/Vienna International Airport, transfer and check-in in the hotel, walking tour of Bratislava Old Town including Main Square with crafts market, Old Town Hall and neo-Classical Primate's Palace, welcome dinner in typical restaurant. Day 2: Small Carpathian Driny Cave and Vah River Valley Route. Morning departure from Bratislava and follow along the Slovak capital of wine Pezinok and Modra. Visit the cave Driny, located in the Small Carpathians. Then continue via Trencin and along Vah River Valley guarded by many castles to the High Tatras area. Late afternoon arrival, check-in and dinner in hotel. Day 3: Caves of Slovak Paradise National Park. This day is dedicated to caves located in the area of beautiful Slovak Paradise National Park. Ice cave of Dobsina, which is one of lowest attitude ice caves in Europe. Aragonite cave of Ochtina is anther unique experience of this day. Complete day with dinner in mountain-styled Koliba restaurant with live Gypsy music. Day 4: Belianska Cave a Dunajec Canyon. After visit of Belianska Cave, located in the Belianske Tatras, continue to the Zamagurie area, which is a cut-off region beyond Magura mountains on the border with Poland, inhabited by friendly and proud Gorals. Major attraction in this region is rafting (gondolling) at the Dunajec River that marks the border between Slovakia and Poland. Enjoy outdoor picnic accompanied by Goral music at the Chalet Pieniny. Day 5: Caves of Slovak Karst. Morning departure from the hotel and follow to two, UNESCO world heritage list included, caves in the Slovak Karst. After visiting the beautiful Gombasecka Cave, enjoy underground boat trip in Domica Cave that forms with Hungarian Aggtelek Cave a unique trans-border cave system. Continue through the Muran Plateau Nature Reserve to Tale Resort in the Low Tatras. Day 6: Caves of Demanova Valley. Trip takes you to the northern side of the Low Tatra National Park. Visit the Demanova Ice Cave and the Demanova Freedom Cave, forming together the unique cave system of Demanova Valley. Day 7: Cave of Dead Bats - optional. The trip is one of highlights of the tour. A special excursion to the Cave of Dead Bats. This trip anticipates a few-hours hike to the cave entrance. Only groups of ten guided with a special guide are allowed in. The cave hides one of unique places, with thousands of dead bodies of bats. Day 8: Bystrianska Cave and Hron River Valley Route. Morning visit to the Bystrianska Cave, placed on the southern side of the Low Tatras. Continue to Banska Bystrica, former mining town with beautiful square with many outdoor cafes and restaurants. After leisure time carry on to Bratislava. Check-in the hotel and farewell dinner at a typical local restaurant. Day 9: Morning transfer to Bratislava/Vienna airport, home-bound flight.
