Originating from the tiny finger of gravel known as Homer Spit, this intermediate skill level adventure takes place in the deep blue of Kachemak Bay surrounded by snow-capped peaks and massive glacier fields. Homer is the gateway to uncountable adventures in a Alaska, where the locals sprout bumper stickers admonishing people to "Keep Homer Weird". After an orientation day in Homer where we begin downshifting to Alaska time, we'll cross the Bay and to explore the nooks and crannies at the base of all the glacier-carved mountains we see from a distance. Sea mammals, puffins, whales, bears and countless sea birds find their home along the coast we'll be exploring by kayak.
Our nights will be spent in comfortable beach camps and even a few in Mongolian style yurts equipped with woodstoves and bunks....Alaska-style comforts of home.
As with all of our Alaska programs, we are proud to partner with Tom Pogson and the Alaska Kayak School to outfit you with the finest boats and gear in Alaska: NDK Explorers, Lendal paddles and Mountain Hardware tents just to mention a few names. Between our well-known meals, Tom's BCU 5 Star coaching talents and Michael's 20 plus years guiding, you will be getting the best of the best that Alaska has to offer.
