Combine intertidal glaciers, whales, puffins, sea birds and sea mammals with incredible vistas, Dungeness crab and Halibut and you get the kayak trip of a lifetime. We’ll be teaming up with Tom Pogson of Alaska Canoe and Kayak School to take advantage of Tom’s local knowledge and ability to teach and assess BCU 4-star skills. I’ll be adding my ACA background and passion for cooking to the mix for a truly outstanding trip. Tom’s got a fleet of Explorers, Tempests, Valley boats and a couple of Kajaksports to accommodate just about any person’s size and paddling style. We’ll be exploring Aialik and NW arms of Kenai Fjords and the price will include transport from Anchorage, as well, as lodging the nights before and after the backcountry portion.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1 — Arrive in Anchorage prior to 5 pm if you can: You'll be met at the airport. After an orientation dinner, we'll head south to Seward for a night at the Alaska Saltwater Lodge.

Days 2-7 — Get to know Tom Pogson a bit as we take the boat shuttle out to Aialik Bay and begin the paddle portion of our trip. Our days will be spent exploring this amazing coast, which should be teeming with large mammals this time of year along with a many seabird species (2 kinds of Puffins). We'll do a little foraging for crabs, halibut and rockfish (a cod) and have a seafood bake beyond compare somewhere along the way. We'll gradually make our way over toward NW arm.

Day 8 — Paddle into NW arm to be picked up by our kayak shuttle service and back to a comfy night of warm sheets, hot showers and cool drinks at Alaska Saltwater Lodge.

Day 9 — After breakfast, early morning we'll shuttle you back up to Anchorage to catch flights home or wherever you choose to go from there.

Notes:
Airfare is not included in the tour price.

Price includes naturalist guides, permits, boat shuttles, lodging-dbl**- prior and after backcountry trip (on schedule), all meals during itinerary, local land transport, high quality kayaks, professional instruction, group gear (tents, kitchen gear, safety equipment) and the best backcountry food in the land. We intend to make this one of the finest kayak tours ever put together!
