There are a number of excellent hostels in Puerto Iguazu (it’s recommended to book in advance, although you can find accommodation on arrival), and access to the falls from the town is extremely easy and takes about 15 minutes by bus. The beauty and sheer energy of the falls are difficult to convey in words or photographs – you simply have to experience them for yourself. Indeed, the Iguazu National Park offers visitors many opportunities to get up close and personal with the various waterfalls, with well-designed walkways and boat excursions which take you underneath the falls. It’s also possible to hop across the border with Brazil to enjoy some different views and photographic opportunities of the falls.
A stay of 2 days in Puerto Iguazu is certainly sufficient, however, those lucky enough to have more time might wish to explore the other delights of Misiones. The capital of the province Posadas is a friendly and attractive city which sits alongside the Rio Paraná, and is conveniently located near the historically significant ruins of a Jesuit Mission in San Ignacio.
