DAY 1. ARRIVAL IN BLED (501 mtrs).
Bled is a popular town on the shore of a beautiful glacial lake, and a place that attracts visitors with its combination of natural wonders and unique culture and history. Visit its unique island church and castle perched high upon the lakeside cliff. (hotel 4*). DAY 2. BLED – POKLJUKA HIGH PLATEAU (11 km, 620m ascent, 6 hrs walking). A short car transfer brings you onto the Pokljuka high plateau (1280m). Today's warm-up hike leads you over mountain pastures, through dense fir forests up to Lipanska Hut for a typical hikers' lunch. Then it's onwards through sweeping vistas of the Karawanke range, Pokljuka plateau, Krma valley and Bohinj Mountains to the Pokljuka Biathlon Centre. (hotel 3*). DAY 3. POKLJUKA – PLANIKA HUT (10.5 km, 1100m ascent, 7 hrs walking). Today it's into the heart of the Triglav National Park and Julian Alps. The trail slowly ascends to Vodnikov Dom hut, where you can have lunch among glorious views of Mt. Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain (2864 m), and its surrounding peaks. You will spend the night at Planika hut, right underneath Triglav. Additional nights can be booked here should you want to climb Mt Triglav (the climb is partly a “via ferrata”, some alpine experience and a helmet are recommended). (Today your main luggage gets collected at Pokljuka hotel and is safely stored in Helia’s head office in Bled until you reach Bohinj at the end of the walk.) (mountain hut accommodation). DAY 4. PLANIKA HUT – KOCA PRI TRIGLAVSKIH JEZERIH (11 km, 700m descent, 6 hrs walking). You start today with a walk across the Hribarice pass (2358m) in the direction of the Koca pri Triglavskih Jezerih hut. Stop and admire the beauty of one the Park’s seven lakes, Zeleno Jezero (Green Lake), before continuing on to enjoy a beautiful view into the rest of the Valley of the Triglav Lakes. A further 3-hour hike brings you to the Koca pri Savici mountain hut. (mountain hut accommodation.) DAY 5. KOCA PRI TRIGLAVSKIH JEZERIH – SAVICA WATERFALL HUT (10 km, 1000m descent, 4.5 to 5.5 hrs). A long descent into the valley awaits you. During lunch at Komna hut you can also take in a great view of Bohinj Lake. End the day with a short 20-minute walk to Savica Waterfall, where an alpine Karst spring feeds the cascading 78-metre waterfall and subsequently the mighty Lake Bohinj. (Your main luggage will await you here.) (mountain hut accommodation).Upgrade to 3* hotel (further 4 km valley hike) is possible. DAY 6. SAVICA WATERFALL HUT - RIBCEV LAZ / BOHINJ VALLEY (13 km, 100m ascent, 4 to hrs). Start the morning with a relaxing walk along the northern shore of Bohinj Lake to Ribcev Laz village, where you can warm your blood with delicious homemade honey brandy in the local bars. Enjoy a swim in the crystal clear lake. Alternatively, you can take the cable car to Mt. Vogel (1532 m), where you'll be able to enjoy a perfect panoramic view of the area you have just walked over. (hotel 4*) DAY 7. RIBCEV LAZ / BOHINJ VALLEY – LAKE BLED. Transfer back to Lake Bled. Today you can take a walk through the scenic Vintgar Gorge and Sum Waterfall. Or if you prefer a nice leisurely stroll, a walk around the lake takes about 1 hour. You can reach the famous island church on the lake by special “Pletna” boats, or visit Bled Castle and its museum.
