Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: San Jose. Upon arrival to international airport, our driver will pick you up and will take you to Sleep Inn hotel or similar in San Jose for lodging.

Day 2: Pacuare Lodge. Around 6:00 a.m. a guide will pick you up at your hotel to start an exciting White Water Rating at the Pacuare River. Considered by many experienced rafters to be the most scenic class III-IV white-water rapids in the world, the Pacuare River offers an adventurous ride filled with stunning natural beauty and exciting rapids. On the first day of our journey, you will be driven through Cartago and past scenic sugarcane and coffee plantation, enjoying spectacular views of the Irazú and Turrialba Volcanos.

We’ll breakfast along the way. Then, once in the water, you’ll experience the exhilaration of riding the waves on this wild and scenic river, which courses through a tropical wilderness of dense vegetation and steep gorges that rise majestically above its banks. Dozens of species of mammals and birds abound in this tropical paradise. When we arrive at our overnight destination, you will find a jungle oasis nestled in the middle of an enchanting and captivating rainforest.

Surrounded by nature in her purest and most primitive state, a two-story jungle lodge houses rustic but comfortable dining facilities on the first floor, and plenty of relaxing hammocks in an open-air second floor lounge. Imagine being surrounded by the raw beauty of nature, without the blare of radios, the glare of television, or the ringing of telephones! Happy Hour truly becomes a happy time as you share your experiences of the day with other rafters. Later, a candlelight dinner with wine is served to you by our guides, who are trained by a French chef.

When you feel tired, you'll retire to your very own rustic bungalow, complete with showers, comfortable beds, and clean linen. In the morning, after a hot breakfast, you'll have some time on your own to explore the rainforest surrounding the lodge. The Pacuare Lodge’s eco-friendly bungalows are surrounded by exuberant tropical foliage, nestled between the river and our private nature reserve, which conserves 300 hectares (740 acres) of primary rainforest.

The buildings are made of wood from tree farms and palm thatch collected in the rainforest by our Cabecar Indian neighbors. Each bungalow combines sustainable practices such as solar-heated water and low-impact septic systems with comforts such as orthopedic mattresses and spacious bathrooms. At the Pacuare Lodge, you can bird watch, hike, swim, fish, explore the rainforest canopy, visit a traditional indigenous community, or simply relax.

Though the scenery and nature are spectacular, guests are equally impressed with the service, comfort, food and details such as the wine cellar, candlelight dinners and massage therapist. Many also applaud our commitment to conservation, improving life in nearby communities, and mitigating our environmental impact through recycling, organic ingredients and reforestation, which allows us to offer you a carbon-neutral vacation. Lodging for one night at the Garden View boungalow.

Day 3: Selva Bananito Lodge. Today we launch the rafts again for Day Two of our trip. Rafting becomes even more exciting today as you begin to use the skills and experience gained the day before. Your guides will stop the rafts along the journey and lead you up paths and side streams that open onto pristine waterfalls and natural water slides. Here you can swim, splash, and live it up! Lunch will be served along the river, and when we reach the take out, you can change into dry clothes in our private restroom facilities before boarding the comfortable minibus for the return to Siquirres.

Here a shutte service van will pick you up and will take you to Bananito Village where you will continue with 4 more days full of adrenaline. Selva Bananito Lodge and Reserve is located on a family farm. The reserve covers two thirds of the farm and consists of primary rain forest. It shares borders with Area de Conservacion La Amistad (La Amistad Biosphere Reserve), Central America's largest protected wilderness expanse, which consists of national and international parks and reserves.

This area remains one of the least explored territories in the region, its biological wealth only partially known. Lodging will be offered at a superior room. All meals and activities will be included during your stay. One third of the family land (about 416 hectares or 1,000 acres) is devoted to low-impact, sustainable agriculture and cattle management. Selva Bananito was awarded as one of the World´s 10 Best Eco-Lodges, “The Most beautiful Bedroom in the Rainforest” and “A Tropical Night Symphony“.

Day 4: Selva Bananito Lodge. The Ecolodge Selva Bananito is today an extraordinary example for ecotourism: nature and adventure tourism services nestled in a pristine region of Costa Rica’s Caribbean area, the Talamanca Mountains. Our Private Reserve, Selva Bananito, is an important buffer zone or transition area to the “International Park La Amistad”. Finally, Selva Bananito has been a pioneer in the implementation of C-Neutral programs to mitigate the CO2 emissions caused by their client´s flights to Costa Rica. We invite you to be part of this important initiative for a better world. Includes: (B, L, D).

Day 5: Selva Bananito Lodge. Prepare yourself to enjoy a full adventure experience in the rainforest. During your stay in our property we offer a package full of activities which includes: Tree Climbing, Horseback Riding, Rappel at Morpho Waterfall/100 feet height. If for some reasons the waterfall tour could not be operated, we will offer instead a natural history hike and Platform observation with rappel. The activities will be scheduled by the lodge. Includes: (B, L, D).

Day 6: Bocas de Toro, Panamá. Enjoy a delicious breakfast. This morning you will be taken to Salon Delia where a van Bocas del Toro Island in Panama. Lodging will be offered at Eclypse de Mar hotel or Al Natural Hotel in Bastimentos Island. 3 meals included at Al Natural Resort while Eclypse de Mar includes breakfasts.

Eclypse de Mar:

Enjoy the experience to live in an unspoiled environment and feel the amazing Nature around you. Visit the paths, corridors and beautiful lagoons through the rain forest and observe two different kinds of sloths, tropical birds, iguanas, raccoons, tiny frogs and butterflies in their natural habitat. Eclypse de Mar Acqua-Lodge is committed to the environment and biodiversity and aimed at proving that communities are able to live in harmony with nature. Eclypse de Mar is therefore an Eco-Resort with exclusive individual bungalows, carefully furnished and built over the water on the Caribbean sea. Between jungle and sea. Al natural Resort is comfortable and private retreat, perfectly integrated into the lush tropical environment.

Al Natural Resort:

The resort elegantly combines the ancestral craftsmanship of the Ngobe – Bugle Indians with new technologies that allow us to harvest energy from the sun and limit our impact on the ecosystem. The resort is situated on a small secluded beach close to the natural wonder of Bastimentos Island National Marine Park. In order to provide each guest with maximum privacy. It’s our goal to maintain an intimate scale for the resort, there are only seven beach bungalows, each of a different eco-resort resort with a relaxed atmosphere and a Friendly Team which offers a comfortable level of personalized services. Gourmet Meals, prepared with fresh local products by our European Chef, are served in our two story restaurant.

Days 7-8: Bocas del Toro. Breakfast. Free morning to enjoy at the zone. We suggest taking some of the optional activities in this beautiful region such as snorkelling tours, visit to Indian Reserves or just relax at the hotel where you can use the kayaks and snorkelling equipment.
