Get picked up 5:00 a.m. (sharp) downtown Tainan and be paddling by 5:15! Watch the sun rise over the city while paddling to the famed "Dutch Bones" temple. The Sihcao mangrove wetlands are a remnant of what used to be a large inland sea that now comprises much of western Tainan city and county. Enter the "Green tunnel" learning why some mangroves breathe upwards and some downwards. Absorb a bit of history from your cockpit. Learn why mud skippers skip, fiddler crabs fiddle, and have a peak into our municipal nature reserve (a surprisingly large and well-protected ecosystem) for plovers, herons and even a lost spoonbill or two. Examine your catch on the pirate ship. Meet some oyster farmers and hear how it's not such a fun job after all! And be back in the city for breakfast and a shower by 10:00.
