TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1:
We start right away after you land on Baltra Island, on the airport. There you will be greeted by your English speaking guide for the transfer to Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz Island) for lunch. Afterwards, we will take our speed Boat Oceano or the public speedboat to Isabela Island at 14:00 for approximately three hours. On arrival we will check in to our hotel (depending on the category selected). After a brief rest at the hotel, we will head for the Flamingos Lagoon, the largest coastal lagoon found in the Galapagos and one of the main reproductive sites for these beautiful creatures. After dinner, we will return to get some rest for tomorrow’s adventure!

Day 2:
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will have a full day tour to Sierra Negra Volcano. This volcano is located 13 miles from Puerto Villamil and is holds the world’s second largest volcanic crater, measuring 6 miles in diameter and 300 feet deep. We will hike to the crater and enjoy a breathtaking view of the beach below before continuing on to the still very active Volcan Chico, which keeps the surrounding ground always warm. (A box lunch will be provided). In the afternoon we will return to the hotel and later we will have the opportunity to go snorkeling at the colorful Concha Perla. After dinner we will get some sleep.

Day 3:
After breakfast we will sail to Tintoreras Islet. The lonely islet takes its name from0 a large crevice holding of very clear and calm waters where white-tip sharks known as “Tintoreras” come daily to rest on the bottom. We can also observe penguins, sea lions, and marine iguanas on the surroundings. We will also cool off a little by snorkeling with sharks as well as other colorful tropical fish that characterize the lively waters of Isabela (tube, mask, fins will be included).

In the afternoon, after lunch, we will get close to the Isabela Turtles at the Giant Tortoise Breeding Center. We will continue towards the historical site “The Wall Of Tears”, an enormous lava block wall built by prisoners while Isabela was used as penal colony from 946 to 1959. Due to the arduous labor and harsh conditions in which the prisoners lived, this site is known as “El Muro de las Lagrimas”. Additionally, we will visit a small lava tunnel and enjoy the view from Mirador Orchilla, Estero de Isabela, and check out the mangrove populated and idyllic Playa del Amor. Dinner and hotel accommodation will be provided.

Day 4:
Early in the morning at 06:00, we will take the public speedboat back to Puerto Ayora, where the guide will be waiting for us to check into the hotel and have breakfast. Then we will begin our visit to the Highlands of Santa Cruz Island. We will enjoy a wonderful encounter with giant turtles in their natural habitat surrounded by the endemic wildlife as well as walk through a perfectly formed lava tunnel. After lunch and a short rest, we will visit the well-known Charles Darwin Research Station. Here we will the opportunity to see Lonesome George, the last Galapagos Turtle of its species among a variety of Galapagos species and iguanas. Dinner and accommodations will be provided.

Day 5:
After breakfast we will go to the dock to take our speed boat L/P Oceano or similar to start the navigation to Floreana Island for approximately 2 ½ hours. The first stop will be for snorkeling at Floreana Lobery. After lunch we will continue to the hike to Floreana highlands, where we will find the caves that were used by the pirates years ago, the Asylum of Peace (viewpoint) and the ancient habitat of Wittmer, one of the earliest inhabitants of the island. We will also get the chance to watch how inhabitants extract fresh water from this island and get a taste of this vital liquid. After sailing back to Puerto Ayora we will get some well dinner and rest.

Day 6:
After breakfast we will travel to Baltra Airport for our flight back to mainland. On the way we will stop by “The Twins” (a.k.a.“The Gemelos”), which though being similar to craters, were actually formed from a collapse of the earth due to lava flows that passed below it. The tour will end upon the arrival to the Baltra Airport.
