Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Tripoli not later than 3 pm. Welcome and domestic flight to Sebha, in the heart of the Sahara. Overnight in the hotel. Days 2 - 6: Start of an exciting expedition towards south by 4x4 wheel cars. From now on you will camp in the wild desert. On the way to Waw an Namus you pass Tmissah with its palm-studded dunes. Waw an Namus is a now-extinct volcano with several stunning crater lakes surrounded by reeds, palmtrees, black and white sand to see and swim in. The volcano offers a pleasant walk. On the way back you will use a different route. In Zueila, famous for its seven graves, As Sabaha, of followers of prophet Mohammed. Camp in the Murzuq Dunes. Overnight in the tent. Day 7: Cross a short section of the white and black desert to Wadi Mathandoush. There you will have plenty of time to explore the wadi and see many of the innumerable prehistoric animal carvings for which it is famous. After lunch go ahead to a camp in the Murzuq Dunes. Overnight in the tent. Day 8: Short drive passing the Barjuj irrigation scheme to Germa. Visit the local historical museum and the ruins of ancient Garama. Late afternoon enter to the Ubari sand sea and camp near Umm el Maa. Overnight in the tent. Day 9: Visit the picturesque Ubari lakes Umm el Maa, Mafu, Gabroon, top highlights of Libya. Swimming in the very salty water is pure fun! The dunes offer pleasant walks. Later exciting dune drive through a wild landscape on a rarely used track to Sebha. In Sebha time at leisure or to see a local farm with a variety of animals and crops – an insight into what can be achieved in the desert given water. Evening meal, then fly back to Tripoli. Transfer to the hotel. Day 10: Beautiful drive along the Mediterranean coast to Leptis Magna, the best preserved archaeological site outside Rome (Unesco World Culture Heritage). After lunch visit the local museum and Villa Selene before returning to Tripoli. Dinner in a restaurant. Overnight in the hotel. Day 11: Visit Tripoli museum in the old castle, stroll through the old city (medina) with its narrow streets to see old mosques (Gurgi, Karamanlis), architecture of different epochs and the famous Marcus Aurelius Arch. Tripoli with its charisma will fascinate you and leave a wonderful impression. Farewell dinner in an atmospheric restaurant. Overnight in the hotel. Day 12: Transfer to airport for your departure.
