Taking this beautiful tour, you will ride along the southern side of Lake Balaton, with fascinating views, and through unspoilt areas of South Hungary. You can watch the birds and the wildlife of a wonderful National Park along the Dráva and Danube. You will visit Early Christian Crypts, a 12th century Cathedral, a Turkish mosque, the Zsolnay Porcelain Museum in Pécs, one of the capitals of the Hungarian culture. You will stay in wonderfully located nice small mansions and hotels, and taste excellent wines in the historic Villány wine-region. Itinerary: Day 1: Your hotel is situated near the centre, at the Danube, on Buda side with lovely views. You will meet your guide, have information about the tour, and dinner in the hotel. Day 2: We have an easy cycling through nice villages along the southern shore of Lake Balaton, the most famous holiday resort of Hungary, and the biggest lake of Middle Europe. We will enjoy beautiful views of the lake, and a refreshing swim at a nice beach. We stay in a nice Hunting Lodge at a quiet place near the lake. Day 3: We will stop a small village which is very famous for its folk-art embroidery, and ride in the rural countryside in the Zselic Nature Reserve. We stay at a lovely Hunting Lodge in the middle of the woods, where you can enjoy the peacefulness of the nature. Day 4: We cycle through sleeping villages in a very untouched area near the Dráva, the clearest river of Hungary, famous for its beautiful backwater forests, and very rich birdlife. We stop for a swim at a charming little Thermal Bath, and ride further in the Danube-Dráva National Park. Later we arrive at a very nice small hotel in Villány, the centre of the most popular red wine region of the country. We will taste some wine with a gourmet dinner in the hotel of a very kind family, which is one of the best wine makers of Hungary. Day 5: We visit the most famous sights of Pécs, one of the capitals of the European culture: the wonderful 12th-century Cathedral, the Early Christian Crypts which are parts of the World Heritage, a Turkish mosque and the Zsolnay Porcelain Museum, and get back to our hotel in Villány. Day 6: We visit a unique and very interesting Stork-Museum, where we can learn about the life of these lovely birds. We will cycle on nice and quiet roads, take canoe tour on a small arm of the Danube, in peaceful and undisturbed woods with many birds. We ride to a hunting castle, surrounded by a wonderful park with ancient trees. Even William II. Emperor of Germany, and Francis Joseph I. Emperor of Austria were guests here, where we will also stay. We will taste some delicious game specialties served in Zsolnay china. Day 7: We arrive at one of the largest flood plain forests of Europe, the Gemenc Game Reserve. This is a paradise for red deers and wild boars, and an ideal habitat for many birds. With the small forest train we get into the woods, and stop at a look-out tower to admire the beautiful scenery and the wildlife. After a delicious lunch we leave for Budapest, and you can have a nice rest in the hotel, where we have our farewell dinner.
